Real issues here.

Sadly it misses the part where he goes up to the bartender asking him what his bill will be since he ordered something at market price. The bartender just laughs and says "you're fucked bro"

Good shit that they have you back the refund. I'm actually in a similar situation... Was supposed to be Sept 19th but cancelled it and will do something smaller in a month or so.

Whole thing has been funny. We had a venue, but in Feb they hit chapter 7 bankruptcy and liquidation. We were able to get our money back from the venue thankfully. Had to file a claim with the credit card company. Look up Noah's Events.

So we then found a new place, then coronavirus happened.

the fascination the us has with a bunch of dead people from 250 years ago is ridiculous and the worst part of the countrys culture

That's really not a us centric thing, considering the extent that royalty is preserved in other countries .

Anyway, I have no issue with statues of the founders. Statues of the founders is very different than statues of confederate generals

Are there any cases were someone was fired for being gay or lesbian?

Like, a case can't even go to court until someone was harmed by a law, so yes, people have.

Below is what was being argued.

BOSTOCK v. CLAYTON COUNTY, GEORGIA CERTIORARI TO THE UNITED STATES COURT
OF APPEALS FOR THE ELEVENTH CIRCUIT No. 171618. Argued October 8, 2019Decided June 15, 2020* In each of these cases, an employer allegedly fired a long-time employee simply for being homosexual or transgender. Clayton County, Georgia, fired Gerald Bostock for conduct unbecoming a county employee shortly after he began participating in a gay recreational softball league. Altitude Express fired Donald Zarda days after he mentioned being gay. And R. G. & G. R. Harris Funeral Homes fired Aimee Stephens, who presented as a male when she was hired, after she informed her employer that she planned to live and work full-time as a woman. Each employee sued, alleging sex discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Eleventh Circuit held that Title VII does not prohibit employers from firing employees for being gay and so Mr. Bostocks suit could be dismissed as a matter of law. The Second and Sixth Circuits, however, allowed the claims of Mr. Zarda and Ms. Stephens, respectively, to proceed.

Held: An employer who fires an individual merely for being gay or transgender violates Title VII. Pp. 433. ( a) Title VII makes it unlawful . . . for an employer to fail or refuse to hire or to discharge any individual, or otherwise to discriminate against any individual . . . because of such individuals race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. 42 U. S. C. 2000e2(a)(1). The straightforward application of Title VIIs terms interpreted in accord

What possible reasoning could you give for being able to fire someone for being gay? Your redcap is showing

Like, morally or legally?

Like, I'm sure some could see it as morally bad to fire someone for those reasons, but legally in regards to a judges role, they might be able to make an argument saying why it's not illegal.

You all are ridiculous lol.
Money much better spent on a vacation or swimming pool or some shit.

We got a guy to wed us at our home with no guests. It was a nice intimate thing without having to worry about everyone else and their mother.
I think it was just a couple hundred dollars or so to pay the guy and the government costs.

Ehh, it's just as temporary an event as a vacation, so I never really saw that argument fully. It's not as if I'd feel more comfortable spending 10k on a vacation, instead of 10k on a wedding. It's still a large price.

And also, at some level it's going to be about how much you value certain cultural activities.

I like the idea of having a wedding, especially with a large part of my family living outside the US, in England and Nigeria. The idea of kind of doing that whole traditional Nigerian wedding stuff and having people see it seems nice and cool. But I also know I'd be anxious and kinda stressed about some stuff, mainly the size. Plus the money.
The idea sounds nice, but the reality makes it less so.
