Can we all agree that there are people to this day that have been infected and it could be traced back to the protests? Im pretty sure everyone would agree with that.

Any amount of people getting infected is significant because it spreads so please stop downplaying the protest. People were out and about in mass gatherings with some people being reckless and not wearing protection.

People of color (like myself) are affected by this virus disproportionately. They literally have less access to test and healthcare. Some probably got infected and never got checked. That alone makes the data fucked up. A lot of black people was out there.

No one is claiming that there wasn't any spread due to the protests.

Only that the aggregate sum of all other daily events had a much larger and observable impact on the subsequent spiking seen today.

Presumably there was some spread, but the effect was so small and perhaps counterbalanced that it isn't observable.

So the people that got infected at protest quarantined themselves and never got anyone else infected?

I dont know why you think you can pick choose what's significant. Didn't it take just one person to start this whole thing?

Cut the crap. The GOP holds fucking indoor rallies where candidates actually make a point of not wearing masks, staff actually removes social distancing signs and people on Twitter actually boast about not masking, and you're comparing it to outdoors protests where nearly everyone is masked.

Republicans have been grotesquely irresponsible to the point of absurdity, and this is a distraction from it.

This isn't about fucking Republicans. I bet since you're doctor you wouldn't give someone the ok to go to protest if they ask for your opinion on it, right? Especially if they have underlying issues. You know they could get infected. Am I right?

Sorry you might be in the wrong topic. This topic is addressing "protests causing a spike in coronavirus cases", not "protests causing any coronavirus cases at all".

Because one person can lead to many infected, any situation before the spikes helped cause the current spikes.

Maye you're right and a few people got infected at the protest. That doesn't mean the virus just stopped with them.

The data clearly shows that covid-19 spreads particularly in closely-packed indoor settings. Specifically, in settings where people are highly vocal.

You know, like political rallies and such.

You're acting likes its impossible for people to get infected at protest. It isn't, so therefore the protests helped lead to an increase in cases. You can argue how much or how significant, but you can't argue against the fact people got infected.
