I wonder if Asura, Lego Batman and the Batman Who Laughs could have made the bracket if I'd nominated them sooner so that they'd have more time to get three noms. In retrospect I probably should have nommed them first and saved the Gravity Rush girls, the fighting game trio and/or Ranch for later. I'm glad some of my other nominations got in. Athena Cykes in particular was a real nailbiter, which probably doesn't bode well for her strength come to think of it.

This is actually something people have been purposely misquoting. Reggie's exact quote is "These are characters that are new to the series." He doesn't say "new worlds" or "series new to Smash" like people are saying.

I actually wasn't aware of that, and it does change things regarding Byleth being an option. Nevertheless, the other characters being third-party did set a precedent that the final character could be reasonably expected to be another third-party character.

I have a theory that Byleth was meant to be the first character of Season 2, but was brought forward to be the final character of Season 1 because the planned character, who would have been a third party due to the pattern established by all the other Season 1 characters and the statement that the DLC characters would all be from series that haven't been in Smash before, ran into issues which caused the character to either be delayed to Season 2 or cancelled entirely. As a result, someone had to be brought forward as a last minute replacement for them, and Byleth was chosen because, as the planned first character of Season 2, he was the furthest into development. If Season 2 consists of all Nintendo characters, with the exception of one guest, I'll assume they're the character Byleth switched places with.

If December 2021 arrives without a Smash trailer that includes the phrase "Master Chief finishes the fight!", I riot.

I'm waiting for El Hermano and Naphan Verde personally.

Smash Ultimate VS Playstation All Stars, just to see how badly Playstation All Stars gets stomped, between facing what should be a really strong opponent, likely being incredibly weak itself, and being anti-voted to oblivion on top of that weakness.

Obviously, PSAS isn't making the bracket, but it would be a funny match.
