I mean I understand if you can't be assed lol it's a textbook example of how not to do visible encounters. the original game's dungeons consist entirely of cramped hallways, meaning with new on-screen encounters you have almost no space to navigate without running into enemies. in some cases there will actually be no choice but for you to fight an enemy if it's blocking an access point or if it is large enough. as if this weren't bad enough there's basically no grace period after fights before more enemies spawn, and the sheer amount of them is just completely absurd. and the game had a nasty habit of spawning them right in front of you. this leads to an experience (in dungeons) that is 100% more disruptive than random encounters ever were i also personally don't think the vignette storytelling in 7 is all that great. | Delirious_Beard 05/14/20 11:26:32 AM #94 | the smaller hp and damage values and scaling is imo part of what makes the first two games' combat so cool you always know how much damage your attacks do, and knowing enemy health is important, so a lot of the strategy is using mental math to figure out the most efficient way to take out groups of enemies. the badge system ties it all together by allowing customization to create a build that encourages experimentation compare this to most JRPG's (take the Mario and Luigi games) where with every level you gain an increase in all your stats and your damage values scale so linearily --- https://imgur.com/HUHxlFl You act like I don't know my own way home |
