people can like and vote for whoever they like. I wish the other candidates and party would stop throwing support behind safe pieces of cardboard, and remain more neutral about their candidates to actually let the public decide. But w/e.

I guess my other problem is that there isn't enough funny goof-off bonding moments that all the other games had. There's a bunch in the beginning like the maid calling scene and Ann trying not to pose nude for Yusuke while Morgana lockpicks the door. But after the 3rd palace, it all dried up. They go to the beach and fucking nothing happens. They go to Destinyland and Hawaii but all do is just talk about Phantom Thieves stuff all the time; they never just relax and have dumb fun in those scenes. I really really hope Royal fixes that too >_>
I agree. Even when we get those scenes, they always end up ruined in some way. It kinda sucks that the team isnt really allowed any moments to be happy; the fireworks, the trip, the buffet, even the Christmas date, everything ends up ruined in some way; it's kind of a buzzkill tbh

I mean yeesh, even P3 has them beat in this category, and that's pituful

Yeah, the 5th palace is probably the worst one, then the last palace.
Honestly, it's not just that the 5th palace is the worst (which it definitely is, and I actually appreciate that theres even narrative reason for it to be so bad and unfulfilling), it's the literal in game WEEKS leading up to it. The schooltrip is lame and way less fun than similar events in past games, and Morgana's bitch fit is a slog and a half. Not to mention, it eats up WEEKS of time where you rather be doing confidants, jobs, mementos, etc, and you just... cant. it's definitely the weakest point narratively and structurally, and puts a bad taste in your mouth before you even get to the palace.

I am really impressed with all the little things they added. Small bits of extra dialogue, little animation changes, things that really stick out to someone who played the last one a lot, and really do bolster the storytelling in places. They poured over the game with a fine toothed comb, and refined a hell of a lot more than I expected. Bravo.

Then it hit me like a ton of bricks. I don't think they did though. It was clear that Thor was going through some deep depression and dealt with it with excessive partying and overeating.
Which would be all well and good if they did anything compelling with it. But they don't. We get:

Fat jokes right out the gate
Fortnite jokes
A potentially compelling bit with his mother that caps off with more fat jokes
A fanservicey fallback to the hammer, which we JUST had a movie painstakingly explaining that he didnt need
Thor reniging on his responsibility to his people, jokingly pawning everything on valkyrie, and going to make more fat jokes and measure dicks with star lord

I get they wanted a coping-with-depression angle, thats obvious, but they do it so poorly. We get exactly TWO scenes that even touch on that angle: him "going for the head," and flipping his shit when someone says thanos' name at the start. That's it. He does not grow, change, Express anything relating to the issue, or anything even once after that. It so blatantly comes off as an excuse to get him into space to quip with the guardians. A focus tested writing decision because people liked it in infinity war.

Ffs, as far as his arc is now, ragnarok and infinity war may as well have not even happened, for all they mattered for him. Asgard is on earth now, and there's less of them. Not like they mattered much to start. Whoop de doo.

I'm honestly very torn. On the one hand, this was an absolutely horrid judgement call from the manager. Maybe they were racist. Maybe they were just of the mindset "alright, I can risk having this obvious-shit-person get even more heated, possibly violent, or I can get the targeted employee away from the situation, shut this lady up, and get her out asap." I get the logic to it, even if I find it morally repugnant. And were I the employee, I definitely would want the manager severely punished for throwing me under the bus (definitely know that feeling all too well). Terrible practice, even worse optics, easily deserving of a reprimand at the very least, and I can very easily justify a firing.

On the other hand, had the manager stood their ground, I've known managers who've gotten fired for less, and I can see why someone would take the cowardly kowtow approach and think they were doing right. Knew one who was shitcanned because LP saw a customer blatantly shoplifting (like, stuffing stuff in their pants in the middle of the floor), radio'd out about it. Manager who responded didnt apprehend or accuse, or anything. They simply offered to ring them up, pretty common shoplifting-deterrent-without-accusation business that you get taught. Would be thief ended up calling corporate, claimed to have been racially profiled (guy was white, but Corp doesn't care to investigate), ended up getting a gift card, and manager and LP that day were fired. That's the problem with corporate chains - any store level employee is shit to them. Smaller joints, sure, you have leeway, but olive garden? Only prayer the manager would have had would be if their stand-firm firing got enough media traction to scare corporate, which is a huge gamble.

So, yeah. Call me jaded, but I have no doubt that that manager was fucked the minute this lady walked in the door. Call her out? Fired after inevitable lying-call-to-corporate. Kowtow? Fired. Call the cops? Fired. Fuck these big corporate chains and the culture of fear they create. In an ideal world, this manager WAS a racist and got exactly what they deserved, because sadly enough that would be the best case in this situation in terms of justice.

Glad as hell to have moved up and away from these sort of positions, where you're shit to corporate and customer alike.
