I'm not a big fan of Control, last half slogged. Saying it's bad is...pretty funny. In no world is that true.

I mean, I was exaggerating. I'd give it like a 5/10. The story was neat, but the lore paled compared to something like Outer Wilds, and the gameplay was thoroughly mediocre (outside of flying and throwing stuff around, which was fun).

Yeah, I'd rank all five Smash games in the same spot if I did a list like this. They're extremely similar games! Not sure if I'd do that with Mario Kart, but that wouldn't be as high up anyway, and I only put a lot of time into SMK/64/8.

Yup! I dunno about SO1 since I never played it, but I heard it's kinda like SO2 but worse. SO3 has some terrible stuff and some great stuff, while the ratio flips more to the terrible side for SO4 and SO5.

Yeah, there were definitely still moments in Mr. Robot S2! The episode where they're in the 90s TV show parody was the best. Cisco's death was good, and so was the FBI plot in general. Zhang/White Rose is good too. I just wish the main plot had been there too.

I mean, it adapts 16 volumes into 151 episodes. That's pretty absurd! For normal pacing, you'd typically want maybe four episodes per volume at most. Kai is five episodes per volume, for comparison.

Tales of Symphonia still my favorite Tales, I think. Berseria's the only one that comes close, but Berseria really suffers from its abysmal budget. Plus, Symphonia has the advantage of being the first Tales I played.

Mr. Robot S2 complete! Honestly, I don't really feel like they turned the quality around in the second half. There were great parts here and there, but there were also bad episodes, like 12 and especially 11. The whole season felt like it wanted to be dark and use fancy techniques to try to be deep or whatever and it just didn't work for me.

The conflict between Elliot and Mr. Robot in the last few episodes just felt pointless. They seem to reconcile, and then they're still fighting. We know Elliot wants to take down evil corp, but he tries so hard not to for whatever reason. Why did Mr. Robot keep Tyrell's location secret and say he was dead? Because the writers wanted to manufacture a conflict, of course!

Also, not sure what the writers have against Obama, but all the stuff about him was kinda dumb. Philip was great early on, but everything seems a bit too easy for him after that. The huge shocks due to the hack were dumb in general. Felt way overexaggerated.

I'd still say the FBI stuff was mostly good, and the China stuff was solid too. Glad most people seem to say S3 turns it around, at least.

Green Book: 8/10
The Shape of Water: 7/10
King's Speech: 7/10
Moonlight: 6/10
The Artist: 6/10
Argo: 5/10
12 Years A Slave: 5/10
Birdman: 4/10

I don't really care about technical merits in films though. This is all from an entertainment perspective. I enjoyed the 90s and 00s best picture movies far more than the 10s winners. I like every single 00s winner more than Spotlight, and the same is true of 7 of the 90s winners.

Cold Steel 4 is the end of that arc proper, but there's a game coming out soon that basically serves the same purpose as Trails the 3rd to set up the next arc.

Also, Cold Steel is kind of a pair of stories, with 1/2 telling one story and 3/4 telling another. They're very connected stories, but 2's ending is fairly conclusive to that specific plot.

It'd be neat to get a Trails game where you travel all over the continent, but they'd kinda have to abandon the NPC focus and have a much higher budget for that to work.

I think Leman is probably most likely after Calvard. The other option is pretty much...some East Zemurian country we don't know about yet. Maybe Remiferia but I feel like we aren't going there, and Arteria is probably being saved for the final arc.

I was a little disappointed that some of the villains of SC didn't really get a good resolution. I want some of these minor players to go away. they're not bad, I just want to start getting somewhere.

3rd wraps up a few of SC's loose ends, though I don't remember if many of them were for villains.

Oddly enough, even though 3rd partly exists to set up new stories, it still has a much better ending than SC did.

3rd is kind of a collection of short stories with a main story tying it together. It's not as Kevin-focused as the first two games were Estelle-focused. It's a neat experience in some ways, but I wasn't a huge fan. It's a bit of a low budget experience with a lot of reused locations, if that bothers you.

Cold Steel is good stuff, but with a bit of a different feel to it in some ways. I enjoyed the gameplay much more in the CS games.

CT is def one of my all time faves. love the cast, the battle system, the soundtrack, the storyline... my only qualm with it is that i've always kinda struggled with knowing what to do for the endgame sidequests.

I found the sidequests easy enough to figure out as 9 year old.

The codec conversations are the worst thing about MGS4. They don't have any of the joy that the conversations in MGS1-3 did.

MMX2 so good. It's a bit on the easy side, but that's okay. I played it a lot when I was younger. Awesome replay value.

I just wish AAI2 had better pacing. I feel like every single case in the game is too long, including the first.

Incidentally, regarding something from earlier in the topic: it looks like GTA5 on PS4 has sold ~19 million copies, which would make that the top-selling PS4 game I think (unless RDR2 or Minecraft are ahead).

I saw that as the point of Koroks. They throw 900 in the game so that everyone's guaranteed to find a good number of them, not so that people will actually collect all 900. It's cool having a collectible with a bonus you don't have to go out of your way to look for. Feels like they enhanced the game in a good way.
