Even if we assume Skyrim tanks because of Bethesdas shenanigans, Id take The Witcher III over Odyssey for sure and Ultimate wouldnt shock me. 2015 or stronger Skyrim likely beats everything not called Breath of the Wild.

Could The Witcher III beat Skyrim and make it to the finals? Conventional wisdom says Skyrim is number two, but when you think about it Witcher III has all the momentum - the show, the Switch port, its increased reputation and even Cyberpunk, while Bethesda have just tanked their reputation over the last few years, though maybe Skyrim is immune to that.

I really like this bracket, thiugh I do find Persona 4 Goldens inclusion pretty questionable! I guess the Vita needed something.

Maybe not a year, but the hype had turned to disdain by the time GOTD rolled around a bit over two years later. Additionally that game took an extra three months to come to Europe (remember region release date gaps?) so when I actually got that game I distinctly remember diminished hype on B8.

I bet they will rearrange the order of events, so that happens after a bunch if early disc 2 stuff. It makes sense to end a game with that, but if you do you probably end up with too much for one game, not enough for two games.

BotW was bigger than Skyrim and probably bigger than this. Brawl had an insane level of hype never seen before or since, but came and went in a year, while we still get BotW threads.

Anyway, as somebody who is relatively (OG) FF7-sceptic, this game looks fantastic. It looks like they are delivering on the original idea of FF7, in the same way that BotW does for Zelda and the RE2 Remake did for RE2.

The NHS does have major problems at the moment, if the right takes a specific snapshot of the past 2 years to now they'll have a fair point on wait times and it being an impossible to maintain structure considering that's the current situation.

Yes and what has caused those problems? Funding cuts by the right, serving entirely ideologically driven austerity that didnt even work. Those cuts are a big part of the reason the UK is in the mess it is in now. Undo the cuts and you undo the problem - it is a sign that the system works. It is to the point that even the Tories have realised they need to restore the spending (by slashing other departments in their case...). If you want a good public service I wouldnt put the Tories in charge. Theyre not Republicans, theyll do it, but on the cheap.

As a British person, watching the American right try to demonise the NHS is insane, hilarious, yet sad. It has saved many, many lives, has relieved a massive burden from a lot of people, costs nowt for almost everything (so an unexpected accident wont bankrupt you), actually brings healthcare costs down, and if you really want private healthcare, you can still get private healthcare. It is an absolute sacred cow there. I guess you dont want that though?

And let me tell you, Ive lived in Ireland, famous for having among the worst healthcare in Europe, for years now and I badly miss the NHS. It has a partially public system but it still has fees for most services for all but the lowest incomes (and the threshold is *very* low), theres a cap so it wont bankrupt you but it can cost a lot. And the country pays almost 3x per person what the UK does. Let me tell you: the NHS is vastly superior.

You know, in the UK leadership contests for most parties they just do ranked choice voting in multiple rounds, eliminating the lowest ranked until somebody breaks 50%. That makes a lot more sense imho.

I think if the predictions had been better, there could have been some interesting contrasts. For instance, I bet if you had said The Xbox series X will outsell the PS5 I bet you would get some decent differences. However these were really bad, the ESA one in particular was just ludicrous, and the Stadia one could have been alright except for surprisingly good year not being defined in any way. The only reasonable one was the Reggie one as noted.

i certainly agree that Parasite is the better and more important movie, but I dont want to downplay the importance of Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It singlehandedly redeems Sharon Tates legacy and for that it deserves heaps of praise.

EA by and large does not remaster games. Burnout Paradise was a big exception, but it looks like a one-off. Really EA has drastically reduced their output as a publisher and I wouldnt expect much beyond the typical fare from them from now. Sports and DICE, then occasionally we are blessed with a Respawn game and cursed with a Bioware game.

I still find your Open World stance odd since thats such a broad thing.

I think the contrast between 2019 and 2018 shows that they kept the core categories intact pretty well. Throw Old Game and Worst Game back in and I dont think you necessarily need more (if they dont have something to say). They still spent as long on the categories as many previous years. 2019 though, cutting moment? Crazy.

Also RDR2 is great but Dan made his case extremely well. It was right to be there.

NES is locked. 3DS is possible but far from certain. It would need sales of just under 25 million to do it which would be substantial growth and possibly the best year ever for a home console (though well behind the DSs record). It could do it but not sure. However it is remarkable that by mid-next year, a bit over four years on sale, it should have outsold the NES, the 3DS, the PSP, the GBA, the PS3 and the Xbox 360. Where does it stop? It should definitely pass the Wii and PS1, but does it top the Game Boy?

I loved Best Shopkeeper! And the Mario Odyssey one. That was the start of Best Music being really well produced too. And honestly all those complaints are localised to vest game. The truth is 2017 was an extremely stacked year so if was always going to be messy regarding people positioning their favourites over others, and dome people reacted on account of that.

Best World is a straight up mess though.
