Zen is a bit off on AC: Odyssey.

Odyssey is set in Greece, its the most recent game in the series and follows on from Origins which retooled the series in a much more RPG direction. It makes sense that it would be here as it has recency and is probably a top 5 AC in terms of popularity. I was a little surprised to see it over Origins but it does make sense.

Not much, but play it as uninterrupted as possible, even marathon it if you gave enough time. If you choose to go for the secret ending in another playthrough, use a FAQ because CV it can be a pain otherwise.

Assuming TLoU/LoZ:LBW are equal and TLoU/CK2 stays as they are right now, Bayonetta gets 75.05% on Crusader Kings 2.

In 2013, ALBW probably would have won if it came down to a 1v1, based on what happened with Brawl vs. MGS4 removing Fallout 3 and Ultimate vs. God of War removing Red Dead Redemption 2. All cases of a Nintendo game against a Sony exclusive removing a broadly popular multiplatform game. TLoU would have had to gain substantially more than either of those (in fact, Brawl was the net beneficiary from Fallout 3) in order to win and that seems unlikely given how broad GTA's reach is. To win TLoU needed to get an extra 3.17% off of GTAV, here's how both of the non-Nintendo finalists did relative to the Nintendo finalist:

MGS4: -1.9%
GoW: +1.65%

This also follows with RE2 only getting an extra 1.66% against Fire Emblem off of Sekiro. Now, FFXV did get enough, pulling an impressive 5.95% extra off Uncharted 4, but that's going the other way - so if you had removed TLoU GTAV probably would have gained more. This makes sense given the natures of exclusives and multiplatform games. A multiplatform game probably has more to gain from the removal of an exclusive than an exclusive has to gain from the removal of a multiplatform game.

Nowadays I would take TLoU by a hair, because I think it stuck around in the popular consciousness in a big way while ALBW got completely overshadowed by BotW. However round 1 has me not so sure!

CT is basically honorary Nintendo though, which feeds into my point about the trends - CT was a beast in the power hour and dropped after in all its prior matches. I think 63% could well be accurate - and if that's true and Melee==FFX, CT overperformed on FFX by 2.5%!

When did the Melee rally start? Because although you do need to account for the differences in trends, peak CT vs. Melee was 8% lower than peak CT vs. FFX and 5% lower than the actual result. Both games are frontloaded, so how much would Melee have dropped? The truth is I don't think we'll ever know.

The whole god-mode CT would have won it all theory is certainly very plausible, but it is built on a lot of assumptions, that is undeniable.

It's not episodic. It's a full game based on part of the original. Both in length and story progression. There is a reason they didn't put part 1 in the title and it's not just for sales!

But I will say, while you could remake the original to modern standards in one game, it would feel incredibly weird. The storytelling of that era is incredibly abridged. If they had told a story like that at full production values it would have felt unbelievably jarring. Whatever else you think about the exact changes they are making, the decision to expand it out so they can actually flesh out the story and tell it in a naturalistic way was the right move, and that did require multiple games..

Since I was sleeping for BT's mad Xenoblade sales post, we know that within series sales do not correlate to series strength.

Metal Gear Solid 3 is the lowest selling MGS game, by a lot. The gap between 3 and the next lowest, 4, is bigger than the likely gap between Xenoblades 1 and 2. Yet MGS3 is also the strongest MGS game, so there you go. The highest selling? 2 followed by V. Fan reception is a much, much better indicator of within-series strength than sales, though sales can factor in.

Xenoblade 2 is no chump, but 1 will be clearly stronger. Arkham City could well win Division 4, so regardless of how big the gap is, Xenoblade 1 is looking pretty good to win the division.

Just one last point on the first two Arkham games - not only did City look good in 2015, but it was likely undervalued through FFX. It also gave that strong performance in the face of both Arkham Knight being a disappointment and having a huge controversy over its PC version that was still happening when that match happened. Arkham Asylum didn't merely look good in GOTD1, but it was clearly the strongest game of its entire year and had a top 25 finish. We know Arkham is good, and I can't see why it would have crashed, so this looks better for Xenoblade than anything else.

Its really complicated. When Infinite came out it was right up there with the original and won a ton of awards. However, it had probably the steepest fall from grace of any game (with the possible exception of Dragon Age Inquisition). Fans really turned on it for its story and shoddy handling of sensitive themes. Now it is probably regarded as more significant and interesting than 2 but the hardcore fans likely prefer 2.

The first two Arkham games are really strong.

XC2 will be okay but XC1 is much stronger, looks set to win its division, and I still dont think that beats Arkham City. Arkham City will win easily. Normally I would say the games may have weakened as the franchise is not what it was, but City is still incredibly well regarded and gave rise to Spider-Man. Itll still be strong, and it earned that 3 seed.

Also this discussion made me realise that its weird that no Arkham games are on Switch yet, especially considering that City and Origins are on Wii U!

It was not a good port, just really barebones for a PC port in terms of options and so on if I remember correctly. As far as I can tell most of the reviews were saying that even if the port was great, it wasn't an especially good game.

Critics are often kinda easy on the lower tier FF entries for some reason.

This isnt the full context though. The PC rerelease of XIII got a 65 so it shows changing standards. Launch XIV got a 49, and ARR got an 83. FFVIIR has done extremely well by recent standards of the series.
