EVEN ON PLANETS THAT ARE THE MOST PROTECTED. Chaos incursions are probably not even the worst way to suddenly die in that universe, honestly. That probably goes to Tyranid invasions, finding out that your home planet was a Necron Tomb World thanks to the mechanical zombie things suddenly awakening en masse, or the guys who are supposed to be protecting you in the first place deciding to massacre you via Exterminatus just because of some event you didn't know happened on the other side of the planet. And even if it's a Chaos invasion, you're probably lucky if the god behind it is Khorne, his followers are just gonna rip your head off in an instant and move on because they don't really care about torture or pain or whatever unlike the other three, just interested in maximizing their kill counts, so you're almost guaranteed to get a swift death, if only brutal. That universe is hella messed up. ugh it really is pick your poison. Closest thing to benevolence is the Tau and even they are space commies that will melt your brain into a writhing detox until you become a fanatic for "The Greater Good".
