Being a working actor is really unforgiving and to be frank, if you ever receive a paycheck for an acting job, congratulations, you're a success. I was acquaintances with an actor who appeared in a lot of movies in the 70's, mostly blaxploitation movies and one James Bond flick. He had a decent career, got to play Pam Grier's boyfriend on more than one occasion and became something of a cult star, enough to make appearances in a few Quinton Tarantino movies later in his life.
