I like AIC the most by far but it would seem weird to say I was retroactively "impacted" by Layne Staley's death since I didn't even really know about it or know who he was or listen to AIC at the time it happened.

I guess I'd say Chris Cornell by default since he was actually recent enough for me to really know about it. I know Scott Weiland was recent too but he was known to have issues for years, so Cornell's was more of a shock

Oh yeah, this too, it's such a clash with the large size of the game. Somehow the map is way bigger than similar games yet it feels like the amount of barriers (and meaningful abilities to tie to them) feels like less than those games. Not to mention the lack of any cosmetic change to your character is pretty disappointing.

It's a decent game that's bogged down by a bit of a "git gud" mentality. There are a lot of things that should be included by default that you instead have to find, and sometimes make a sacrifice just to use because of the charm system. Some of that stuff is just fluff too. I don't understand why the game is so long and the map is so huge. I guess some people think bigger is better, more bang for your buck, etc., but this type of genre is good at around 10 hours IMO but instead it's two or three times that long.

I don't really see them as being that similar other than having a reputation for being overpriced compared to their competitors, but even compared to Apple it's nothing. If Nintendo was like Apple their consoles would be $450, games $80 and controllers $100.

Their prices aren't really even any more, they just stay at full price for longer. I guess the controllers are slightly pricier, and the console itself isn't as good of a value for the amount of power it has but that doesn't entirely make sense from a console gaming perspective the way it would for comparing PCs.

Their whole channel is a trainwreck at this point. Rental Reviews is boring at best, all the new guys have no charisma. Whatever new show they're trying to do with Mike and (mostly) Ryan is dumb, it's almost exactly like the old show they gave up on, I thought they had figured out that nobody likes Ryan.

James seems bored in everything he does. James and Mike Mondays always seems to be Mike trying to pick the game and explain everything which is bad because he gets shit wrong all the time (though so would James). AVGN is obviously just James reading off someone else's script with some truly terrible acting and bad green screens in pretty much every episode now.

I have been trying Hinge the past few days, probably the last one before I give up on all of it for a while. Not that I feel like I should have to mass swipe but I'll use only like 10 likes for the day and then I'm out, wut? That doesn't get me anywhere. I'm not sure what value the questions gimmick adds either.

If I actually received any likes that would be nice cause the likes are done per picture/question instead of just on your whole profile. Then I'd just take what was well-received and apply those lessons to the other apps. Though I guess if I had stuff that was being well-received I wouldn't need the others anyway

I've already used it before, the reason I worded it about joining now was to emphasize how it's like this ever-growing feedback loop that increases the matching disparities over time.

I wouldn't put it like it's something where you have nothing to lose. If I use them for too long without taking a break I really start getting those thoughts that I must really be one of the ugliest and/or most boring people around. Tanking self-confidence isn't good, I'd rather save it for those real-world dating opportunities; however rare they may be, at least they're much more realistic and reasonable. Also the amount of time devoted to swiping/looking/updating your profile doesn't seem like much but it adds up quickly, especially if you expect to need to give it a lot of time before there are any results.

I mean, I wasn't trying to make this some "women have it easy in dating" thing cause they have to experience the same problem from the other side. At least for men, the scarcity of matching sort of acts as a natural filter and you can just swipe right and not actually read profiles unless you match. Since women match so often that doesn't really accomplish anything, they're basically either stuck reading every profile (which are probably really basic and samey), or just indiscriminately swiping left on people the way guys indiscriminately swipe right.

On the other hand, having too many choices sounds better than having no choices at all, but in the end it's probably a wash for who has a better time

I'm not really sure what you're asking here tbh. I'm not super well versed in HTML but I'll try to answer off the top of my head.

I'm pretty sure you can use an input to do a search bar because it's really just a text field. CSS for styling. HTML doesn't actually do the search but you aren't really writing a search if you're just opening a Google/Wikipedia page. You just have the search link to that page with the search param it gets from the text input. I'm not 100% if pure HTML can do that but if not it's just some very small JS that could probably be done inline. Google already offers embedded search components though I think. Whatever route you take, this stuff is easy and doesn't need an entire class or cert to be done

Making it actually search is harder but that depends on what you want it to do. If you want it to just match results on one field of a SQL table for example, that's another thing you don't need any sort of classes or certifications for.
