I've wanted to get ESPN+, my wife wants Disney, and Hulu runs well and will cover what we don't already have via Netflix, Sling, and Amazon. Still will be far cheaper than Comcast, and we'll have everything we want, with no bloat. That being said, when they inevitably raise the price, remove Hulu, and put the shows/movies behind different tiers, we'll cancel. --- Those who live are those who fight. |

The nice thing about open mic nights or new faces contests is that 99% of the people in the audience are friends/family of the other newbies trying it out for the first time. Almost everyone eats shit, so you won't be alone and the majority of the people watching won't even really know if you're funny or not. The only tip I can give is; if you think you have 3 minutes of material, you should have 6 minutes. Time moves very slowly on that stage...Practice out loud before you go up there - a lot - and time yourself every time. --- PSN: PureWarrior11 Those who live are those who fight. |

| Perfectinsanity 07/07/19 6:54:48 PM #19 | Keep it up TC. Don't fret on getting paid $50 to open for someone, and having it cost you more to travel, those are the breaks. I managed a fairly well known (nationally) comedy club for quite awhile, and we ran our local scene the same way. You would get nothing to start, just 3-5 minutes in an effort to get some kind of material together. Then if you were lucky (and good) you could make anywhere from $15-60 a show depending on how many minutes you did, if you were also MC or not, and what night of the week. Then if you kept at it, proved you were reliable, proved you were working on your craft, you got a chance to headline a Sunday or Monday night show, get $100, and keep getting your name out there. It wasn't a living for most of our comics, but we also had quite a few who ended up moving to LA and getting writing/acting jobs, or being taken on the road by national headliners like Ralphie May, George Lopez, Dave Chappelle, etc. As long as you're passionate about it, keep creating material, and taking as many gigs as possible, eventually you'll get paid. Or come to the realization that you just love that shit and find "real" work and just do shows for fun. --- PSN: PureWarrior11 Those who live are those who fight. |
