I loved that video when I saw it but never would have guessed it to rank so highly! Noah's performance really sells it. The jarring cuts between him actively resisting and his sunken look of enthrallment are by far the most disturbing part of the spectacle.

Any thoughts as to what the meaning is for Brendon manifesting physically at the end? It seemed like he was trapped in the screen before, or was that just a trick?

EDIT: Yes, I'll be doing one of these every single year, if that wasn't clear yet. Brendon keeps pumping out weird stuff.

I made the poll, you made the call, and its time for me to rank my top 25 bosses from video game history. And as I did with my last ranking topic just pretend the MtG block one didnt happen I am running a predix contest for this one! Make a list that you best guess will match mine, and you will get points based on the following:

-On the list: 1 point
-Within 3 ranks: 2 points
-Within 1 rank: 3 points
-Direct match: 5 points

Accuracy bonuses go up by one point (to 3, 4, or 6) for the top 5!

Some notes on how I made this list:

-The list considers gameplay much more than my previous top moments list. GLaDOS is a fantastic antagonist but that final fight in Portal 1 wasnt great, so shes not here. No VNs here either.
-However, gameplay isnt everything! Narrative focus and character quality separate the good from the great.
-If I didnt play it personally, I am not ranking it. Sorry, Bloodborne. If there are games in a franchise or significant routes that I havent played, I will note it below.
-Recurring bosses are considered as a set, so you dont need to nominate specific fights from a set
-As before, I am limiting myself to only 4 entries per franchise at most.

I was surprised to discover just how many of my favorite games/series didnt actually have good bosses! Fire Emblem being an easy standout. The gameplay just isnt conducive to it since its much more built around scenarios.

The list will be from the following franchises:
-Final Fantasy (Played 6-10, 12, 13, and 14 ARR through Heavensward)
-Touhou (Played 6-12)
-Persona (Played 3-5 including P4G)
-MadWorld
-World Of Warcraft (Played Vanilla through Pandaria)
-Metal Gear (Solid 1-4 + Rising)
-Golden Sun
-No More Heroes (Played 1-2)
-Valkyria Chronicles (Played 1)
-Pokmon (First three gens only)
-Undertale (no genocide)
-Supergiant (Combining all of their games into one franchise; havent played Hades)
-Risk of Rain
-Devil May Cry (Played 1-4)
-Dark Souls (only played 1)

FFXIV's reboot had to make it work with substantially less funding for polish than a normal Squeenix work since, well, the project had already blown up once. You'll see more polish as you progress since the ongoing success will have given it a bigger and bigger budget.

Don't get attached to the VA crew in ARR content -- in Heavensward they overhaul almost (if not all) the characters' voices. It's a crapshoot as to how well this works.
