Cody11533 06/15/19 1:28:02 PM #52	Cody has beaten RiME. A very beautiful game. The first couple hours didn't really click with me, but by the end I really liked it. Gameplay itself was fine, but the music and art stood out for me. As for the story, I really liked the ending. I read the game as moreso the child was experiencing what we played through as the father moved through the stages of grief. I didn't see the twist of the child being the one who had died, and I was really moved by the ending. I think the message and theme of the stages of grief are represented well enough through the different levels, and they work better in my opinion if you imagine the child as being himself throughout the game, while the emotions are matched by the father off screen. At the end, the child has accepted death and moved on from the purgatory of the island, while the father has accepted it and by finally going back to the child's room and begun the process of moving on with his life. --- "Video games are meant to be just one thing. Cody11533 06/07/19 11:40:29 PM #41	Cody has beaten The Beginner's Guide. I like walking sims. I did not like this one. Reading up on it after the fact, I came to the conclusion that is absolutely had to be entirely fictional, which almost makes me dislike it more. The pretentiousness was really getting to me when it seemed like Coda was real, but as it went on, it seemed like either the narrator had to have made up with Coda, or that he was dead. Instead, I definitely think it was a rather out-there introspective dive into the mind of the person behind The Stanley Parable after it had unexpected success. Everything just felt too abstract for me, and my gut reaction is that I honestly feel like it was not worth the time. All that being said, I enjoyed the format more than the content. I feel like you could have a really neat interactive documentary in this style, particularly relating to games. I also do have to give The Stanley Parable a real go one day.
