I kind of think he just shuts his brain off when he starts playing. The game goes on and the majority of his attention is focused on stream chat. Even when he's not interacting with anyone, he's watching for tips, looking for trolls to ban, or waiting for people to tell him what to do in the game. Despite his declining mental faculties and hand-eye coordination, I believe he could be much better than he is if he simply paid attention.

His fans need to step up and hold him more accountable. If he isn't going to offer an incentive for reaching the tip goal, then they should stop tipping. As much as he likes to believe people should help him simply because he needs (or claims to need) help, this is a gaming stream, not a charity, and people are watching to be entertained. Expecting a gaming streamer to provide an incentive for hitting a donation goal is not unreasonable or entitled or immature.

But of course they won't do that. Most of his hardcore supporters seem perfectly content to support him no matter how low-effort his streams become, and anyone who speaks up to criticize the tip goal will be ignored if they're lucky, or mocked and probably banned if they're not.

I can't remember if it was the same stream, but he was also accusing the composers of double dipping since they already got paid. This from the guy who makes money during his streams, then puts the streams on YouTube to make more money. This from the guy who requires fans to hit a sub goal for him to do an event, also requires the fans to pay for the games for said event, then turns that already-paid-for event into a fundraiser.

You mean put effort into your content so that it's entertaining and appeals to more than a small group of die-hard fans? I suppose doing that would mean selling out, because spending literally every day of your life begging strangers for money is somehow more "real" and "authentic" than putting out quality content that people enjoy enough to support on their own.

A thought occurred to me: How much money would Phil make if he didn't constantly beg? Let's say he only had a couple minutes each stream to mention tips, cheers, etc., and otherwise he had to let his content speak for itself in determining whether or not people wanted to donate. No talking about taxes or slow streams, no crying that he might lose his house, no bringing up his empty bank account. He has to go out and put on the best show he can and hope that people are generous, sort of how a more reputable streamer might operate.

Realistically, I think his income would drop by three-quarters or more if people weren't constantly inundated with the idea that he is in financial crisis.

He doesn't learn anything in any game. I have seen a few of his fighting game streams where his online opponent will literally do the same thing over and over to him, beating his ass into submission. Rather than pick up on this and adapt to his opponent's strategy, DSP will just continually do the same two to three moves, lose, then complain how it was lag that made him lose (I tried to do this move and it didn't come out, or I tried to block there).

Rather than just say it extends to all of his online offerings in games, this is pretty much DSP in a nutshell, both in gaming and in real life. He doesn't adapt and change his ways for anything, instead charging forward with his head down, beating it constantly on a locked door. It makes me wonder how he could beat any game he's ever played at times.

Most people improve by learning from their mistakes. Phil screams, "I did nothing wrong!" and then repeats the same strategy that didn't work the first time. He didn't fail, the game did, or there was lag or glitches or input delay or his opponent cheated. So he sticks to his strategy--obviously the correct strategy--and continues to fail, all the while claiming the moral victory.

Nothing is ever his fault. Aren't Howard and Rambo still doing some kind of YouTube thing together? And it was recently discovered that PandaLee seems to be doing pretty well. All of the people that Phil has cut out of his life seem to be better off without him. Meanwhile, Phil is bitter and isolated while he spends his days begging and yelling at trolls. It's no wonder everyone is anticipating the eventual divorce saga.

As much as I believe Phil deserves to fail, it's not going to happen any time soon. I would say that 2019 has easily been his worst year in terms of quality, effort, and general attitude, yet contributions are still strong. His core group of supporters, the ones who show up to drop the big tips, have shown that they will stick by him no matter what. Sure, one or two might abandon him over some controversy, but there are always more waiting to take their place. At this rate, he could easily stream for another ten or fifteen years.
