Im being as genuine as possible. Ive played that game for years, we even have a sort of different one as well that we play here with a different hand gesture. I really believe he was just trying to troll everyone on tv, not being racist. As you can see, there was a football game where I believe that is Fitzpatrick also used it. Its a harmless game that people are blowing out of proportion because of ignorance and just stupidity. And as I said, if it was a normal OK hand sign, I still think its dumb, but at least youll have an argument. This is clearly not that same thing, and very clearly playing the circle game.

I agree he was playing the circle game. I played it in school as well. I do think it's absurd that the Cubs organization is basically trying to hunt this guy down for it. I also think it's irresponsible to shrug it off and deny that White Supremacists have been using it.

It's clearly playing into the Troll-Right's recruitment practices by using public displays of absurdity to make liberals look over-reactive or extremist in order to drive young "meme culture" people further into the irreverent ideologies if the 4-Chan Conservatives.

Imagine if 4-Chan started claiming the pronounciation of "the" as "thee" was White Supremacist. A couple prominent white supremacists start doing it as a joke on YouTube and Instagram because they know it'll prompt a reaction. Suddenly these same people desperate to prove how "woke" they are will be lining up the guillotine for anyone who doesn't play by the New Rules because OBVIOUSLY the only reason ANYONE would pronounce it "thee" is because they're a White Supremacist. Oh, also, Burden of Proof is on you to prove otherwise because fuck logic and fuck ethics and fuck debate etiquette and fuck a society whose founding principals rely on a philosophy of innocent until proven guilty with the burden of proof lying on the accuser.

Don't give a tiny minority of white supremacists this kind of power over your culture.

Exactly. Letting them have the hand gesture is giving them power. There's a world of difference between realizing the Alt Right is using it, and lumping everyone who uses it into the Alt Right category. This is exactly what they want. To use an innocuous hand gesture so people freak out and start banning people who use said innocuous hand gesture, allowing the Alt Right to say "See! These people are crazy authoritarians for wanting to ban a freaking gesture!". It's part of the plan.

I don't know if TC is being genuine or not, probably not, but Neo Nazi's have been using the sign for a couple of years to show unity. To simply brush it off and say "Lol, you got trolled", is ignoring that they have indeed been using it and are doing so on purpose. Whether this guy at the Cubs game was using it in that manner or not is irrelevant to whether or not White Supremacists have been using it.

The only hate it got that I can remember was Zendaya playing MJ. Which I was hesitant about also, but I think she did awesome and I like that it's a new take on the character.
