The point being that mediocre sci fi/comic movies with generic leads (Hello, first 2 thors, last 2 iron mans, Solo, ant man, and the wasp, just about every DCEU) movies are typically just shat on and forgotten about.

When it's a movie with a female/minority heavy cast (Ghostbusters, Last Jedi, Captain Marvel) the hatred is much more visceral and sustained. You have guys out there literally crowdfunding to remake TLJ, online hate campaigns against Rico Tan and Leslie Jones (both of whom quit social media) and those are just the ones oft the top of my head

even well recieved movies with minotry of female leads like Black Panther or Wonder woman are subjected to it. The former having people faking assaults and blaming violent black racists, or the latter having movies theaters who dared hold female only screenings being sued. Its absolutely a different level of hatred when anyone not a white male is the center

I think, in the case of Ghostbusters, it was the fact that people decried any criticism as sexism before the movie even came out. The back and forth push between both sides was like a ping pong ball picking up speed, whereas with stuff like the bad Thors or Ironmans, there wasn't as strong off an opposing side the reflect the criticism back, so the hate train doesn't really pick up speed and just kinda languishes. That's why the controversy of these movies lasts as long as they do.

Now, granted, these legit crazies who start hate campaigns against actors because of single roles should probably be put in a nice room with 4 padded walls, but life doesnt work that way.

Personally, I didn't like the character of Rose, but that was mainly due to the dumb script, not through any fault of the actor. And Leslie Jones was probably one of the better parts of the Ghostbuster remake, though that ain't a high bar IMO.

Would definitely agree to Cape May, it's alot quieter than Wildwood, plus its only like a 20 minute drive if you would want to swing by there for a day.

The people in the video come off as whiny, pathetic, and weak. That's cringy at least in my head. The nazis and the alt-right are so crazy that they come off as zealous and terroristic and, with the prior damning incidents they committed, should be taken more seriously. Those are two words that I don't associate with cringe.

I suppose it all comes down to speech patterns and mannerisms. Like when one of those incel shooters have a fucking manifesto posted on youtube, they usually come across as cringy, but when there is a rally of individuals chanting hate messages in a militant fashion, it doesn't seem so cringe anymore and feels like a legitimate threat, if you get my meaning.
