I'd say the majority of people I know make building wealth a priority in their lives but I personally couldn't care less how many figures I make as long as I can sustain my relatively minimalist lifestyle. people get defensive for some reason when I tell them I don't care about money as long as I'm past the point of being poor/struggling I'm in the same boat as you, but I guess it's because it's seen as unambitious, that you're lazy. Nobody wants that to be assumed of them, so they default to the most common ambition.
