I know I'm a bit late to the topic, but regarding Pokemon new games vs old games. I love all of them, but I don't think it's weird to prefer the older games. Sun and Moon are obvious if you liked the tradition system more, but if you don't care for many of the newer features, then it makes sense. The newer games has a lot more childish/overfriendly cutscenes and very long tutorial stuff where I have friends that love and play Pokemon still that heavily preferred rivals to be douches and not have to sit through those things.

If you think stuff like playing woth your Pokemon, dressing up, megas, z-moves, or even older stuff natures and abilities were good additions, then yeah, the older games will be better to you. I get that nostalgia goggles are annoying, but I never understood why people are completely unable to see how maybe not all people like the newer features.

Like, I personally hated the Rotom Dex in every aspect aside from a few practical features that could have easily been given to the player some other way. You couldn't turn it off and it worked horribly. Give me a game without that s*** thanks.

So far, Pokemon probably peaked at gen 4-5 for me. I think special defense, abilities, physical/special split in attacks, infinite TMs, vast post game and probably more things I'm forgetting all made the games better. Megas, Z-moves (outside of competitive play), Island Challenges, affection, everything related to fashion, larger focus on friendship, Rotem Dex, and probably more things I'm forgetting did not and made no difference to me at best.

The games are similar, but let's not act like they necessarily only got better with more features.

I remember the voice change really bugging me at first too, but I think they somewhat quickly began learning to do their characters well enough and of course you also get used to it as you go.

It helped that Battle Frontier was a really strong season overall imo, it had basically no filler, a lot of stuff happened.

Something that's REALLY bugging me lately - Ash using his Pokedex on Pokemon he's already seen.

This gets a lot worse in BW, although that's true for pretty much everything.

Pretty sure DP handles it just like you'd want though.
