I'm not sure whether I'm going to do these dream selects or not, it sounds like there will be two more coming in the next two months with a bigger pool, and doing them all gets pretty expensive. Among G+ it seems like the best one for me would be Kain's, but there aren't a lot of other options yet. If I grabbed his G+ I would probably want his doublecast LMR too but I'm not sure if that's worth $60.

Maybe I will just do the AASB one and take Zidane to prepare for Phantasm (and because I like him). Hmmm

Well, I'm just thinking of the quest rewards. If I understand correctly there's no downside to delaying the FF14 one as long as you're able to complete one of the earlier ones for your weekly missions... whereas if you can't beat IX on launch then you're missing out on some time limited rewards, right?

The more I think about it the more this current pickup banner seems like a pretty good banner... 4 chains and 4 awakenings (although I have 1 dupe) on a 2G5 banner seems very good, even if they're mostly second tier awakenings. And it has the IX chain and Zidane's awakening so it's also relevant for that first phantasm.

Are the current realm chain banners (2x guaranteed 5*) worth pulling on for the Phantasm stuff?

Also I can't exclusively focus on that since I don't have the tools to beat all the 6* magicite yet which seems like it's first.

Yeah, wanting Ramza's chain was one of the main reasons I pulled too.

There are some pretty good event banners coming up. In two events it's Terra's sync banner, then the week after that is the fire chocobo event with fire chains on both banners, and then two weeks after that is the VIII event with Rinoa and Squall syncs on the same banner. It's going to be hard to save enough mythril.

2/3 - Rapha awakening, Delita USB2

Awakening is pretty nice. Not sure if I can fit her into my Lightning team though since I already have Ashe and Shantotto, plus Garnet for the chain. Maybe I can though.

I made one attempt on Leviathan and this does not look like it's going to be a fun fight. Multiple targets is one of my least favorite gimmicks, and I don't have enough tools to outrace the doom counter, so I think I'm just going to wait.

Deathgaze was definitely one of the two worst 5* for me, along with Syldra. Agree with previous post that Tyro's USB1 can be great because of Astra. Especially if you also have his USB4 to boost damage.

I just realized we're not getting the Vacation Atop the Waves water themed event, we're just going straight to the XV event this week. I wonder if they'll come back to it or if we're just skipping it.

Sub-30 XII torment, so just I and XIII left to go. I took my first ever realm artifact, the magic sword for Ashe. It makes me a little sad that her 6++ awakening sword is now useless, but oh well. 1067 magic with synergy (before magicite or buffs) is cool.

2/11 - Rikku Awakening, Rikku Glint+

That's a great pull for me since I already have Rikku's chain. Obviously I'd like Tidus's Sync but I'm not sure I need it, I probably won't pull any more here especially since I don't like Jecht and I don't need Paine's stuff now that I have almost complete Rikku.

I had thought I would do Ifrit with magic but now I might actually have the tools to do physical first (Tidus AASB, Rikku CSB/AASB/G+, Bartz AASB) while on Magic I need a 3rd water mage (I have Rydia's AASB/AOSB and Strago CSB/AASB/AOSB)

Good draw but none of the Rinoa stuff (or Seifer AASB) that was my main motivation for drawing. Rinoa's AASB returns on the next VIII banner 1 but not her LMR... and also then it'll be banner 1 odds not banner 2 odds. Not sure if I want to spend more here or not.

Also Selphie's awakening is my first healer awakening and I do have her USB1... but is that good enough to use her? Her USB1 is kinda weak because it's NAT which somehow means it doesn't scale well.

Alright, I finally got my 4th Ramuh kill. Need to inherit it and then I'm ready to try Leviathan when I feel like it. I kinda want to wait for the IX banner 2 with Garnet's awakening and glint+ but that's over 2 months away.

Didn't license boards come with 5th Anniversary? I wouldn't expect that early... although you never know. I do expect Ifrit soon, it's about two months since we got Ramuh now. Not that I'm ready, I need at least one more water awakening of any type, maybe a sync.

Congrats on the AASB! I got Cinque's SSB on the daily draw, that's the first 5* of any kind I've gotten in weeks.

Also, next round of free draw tickets tomorrow, one more chance to get Elarra's Awakening/Glint+.

Yeah, that fight doesn't sound very fun. I still haven't gotten my 4 Ramuh kills, partly because that fight is still awful but partly because I'm not that motivated to try to get them out of the way to fight Leviathan. Also I just realized I still need like 19 more Magicite kills this month for my 5 mythril so I better get my auto team going.

You defintely want two healers for Syldra. If you have Squall's BSB I'd use that and cut Noel. If you don't have it just grab it from the Anima Lens shop, it's cheap. Laguna will already be imperiling so Noel with just his imperil USB isn't as useful.

I'd been thinking I needed two healers since my #1 problem was staying alive, but since I didn't have Elarra's G+ I needed some other replacement for DVG. I have Y'shtola's glint which gives hastega, shellga, and protectga, but I had a problem with her where her USB2 doesn't give last stand on entry (instead the brave level 3 command gives it) so I didn't think running her + Elarra would work since I still have no instant last stand. I I tried Sarah instead since her bUSB has last stand on entry, she can allegro, her L3 brave command gives an instant action which helps make up for the loss of Elarra's USB. Just like for the hardest 5* magicite (Syldra) two healers was the key!

Congrats! That's impressive. I haven't even attempted him in the last week or so. I do have one more idea for a team build to try once I get around to it.

I did 5 sub-30 torments without awakenings... ironically VII isn't one of them. Some Torments are definitely harder than others. The ones I did were III, VIII, IX, XIV, and Tactics. For all of those I had a pretty complete team with USBs on at least 4 of the characters including a buff and a heal. And none of those fights have any real bad gimmicks like Zodiark's paling or Jenova's tentacles or Wrexsoul's sleep status.

I'm down to three torments left: I, XII, and XIII. For I and XIII my tools are bad, for XII I'm just afraid of Zodiark. But I have awakenings for Ashe and Reks so it's probably time to try it.

Good news for today is I got sub-30 on the X torment after taking Tidus's awakening on the select. (I know it's also in the anniversary selection thing, but my plan is to take Ingus there because I don't have any of his three items). Hopefully we get some good stuff to look forward to from this maintenance!

Yeah, I could but I don't really think of Edward's as a substitute for Ramza's. But I'll pick it up when Diabolos rolls around if I don't have another gen 2 holy chain by then. Or get Ramza's on the refresh like you said.

Well, Agrias awakening is good, probably the second best item on the banner. I really want Ramza's chain and I'm not sure if it ever returns, I really don't want to use Ceodore... but there are also a bunch of other upcoming banners I want to pull on. Not sure if I should do another pull here, maybe.

Also I didn't realized that there would be G+ mixed in with the regular Glints in the selection list. So far only 3 of them, but hopefully there will be more in the future and it'll still be 2 for 1.

Dream selections are tomorrow, which ones are you doing? I'm doing LMR for the two-for-one, planning to grab Rinoa's doublecast black and en-ice. AASB seems too good to pass up but these options don't excite me very much. I have a bunch of them and the ones I don't have are either not needed for a long time (both Cecils), are for content I already finished (Zidane), or are available free in the 5th Anniversary (Tidus, Orlandu, Ingus). I think I either take Zidane because I like him and plan to use it in the neo-neo-Torment, or take Tidus and plan to get Ingus on the anniversary selection thing.

Glint is also tempting because it's 2 for 1 but the characters I need en-element for don't have 5* glints.

Got a disco on the daily draw... another Kain Arcane. I've only gotten 3 daily draws that were AOSBs and two of them were Kain's.

I tried Y'shtola instead of Elarra and it worked okay but still ran into the same problem in phase 3 where she can't instantly restore last stand (she needs to use her USB and then raise her brave to l3). The loss of untyped HQC hurts too. I might give Sarah a try since her USB does give last stand on entry and she can use Allegro. Definitely hope we get the Healer pickup banner (that Japan got before our last fest) soon.

I would love to do top gaming platforms but the data is a mess because of so many rereleases and, in later years, games coming out everywhere. I spent some time trying to clean it up but it's either dogmatically sticking to the first release of a game only or the later gens absolutely clean up. even if you were to exclude rereleases, the playstation and xbox platforms end up looking 90% the same anyway and clutter the leaderboard. also, the pc completely dominates for obvious reasons.

IMO the most interesting way to do it would just be the platform that you first played the game on, or else the version you like most.

Yeah, I can't justify spending $30 for a USB at this point. If it were 2 for 1 like the LMR and Glint selects I would do it, and grab Rydia's brave with Red XIII's radiant shield earth USB.

Oh, you're not using Elarra. I'm impressed you got that far with Hilda. Although at least her USB gives last stand... but I'm leaning heavily on regenga, and part of the reason I die is because I keep having to refresh last stand instead of being able to cast her USB.

Yeah, I got pretty close but not as close as that. I forget, do you have Elarra's awakening?

I figured out solutions to both the problems I was having - I block paralyze with Tyro's USB1 (finish phase 2 before the move that diffuses earth if no one is stunned) and I use the RW to break rage mode right after the beginning of phase 2. So I can consistently get to phase 3 but I just can't keep up with the incoming damage there. And Rydia's damage is super weak after her awakening wears off... but that's not my real problem.

My wishlist (things that exist right now):
1. Elarra AASB
2. Red G+
3. Rydia bUSB

Wishlist of things coming later:
1. Rydia Sync
2. Elarra AASB
3. Valkyrie (Rinoa record board ability)

I've had a few better runs but I still sometimes wipe to the phase 2 Thunderous Judgment Bolt and sometimes I don't. The only difference can be his rage level, and I'm doing the same thing every time, so I think the difference is what Ramuh's ATB bar is at when I push him into phase 2?! If that's what's going on it's a really terrible fight mechanic.

Anyway I think I might need to farm 100 magia to raise Red's mind so he's not paralyzed as long. I am trying to save his AASB for phase 3 since that's the hardest part, but if I do he gets paralyzed in phase 2 and he's not recovered in time to refresh the chain. I had a run where I came pretty close after he did finally recover from paralyze.
