But what turned it around for me was working in a retail job that requires providing customer service to numerous people each day. So you learn how to talk to different kinds of people beyond your age group in school. Different ethnicities, creeds, religions, ways of life and more. And you better understand other intricacies of social interaction like small talk, body language, how to hold a conversation, what to say and not say, etc. I'll agree with this, having to talk to people all day really did the trick for me. Wish I could've been in Cleveland that night but unfortunately I was sick. I went to the parade and I'll always remember that.
