A homophobic attack on a Manhattan-bound E subway train has left a 20-year-old woman with a fractured spine, according to the New York Police Department.

ABC7 reports: Police say a man got into an argument with a 20-year-old woman. During the argument, police say the man used a homophobic slur. As the woman walked away, the man approached from behind, punched her in the back of the head, and shoved her to the ground, causing her to strike her head. The attacker ran off.

I'm surprised some of you still even respond to Brutal.

The guy is damaged beyond repair and his gimmick is that of a stalker. He goes around accusing people of having alts and whatnot. That's all he does with his life night and day.

I actually find it hilarious that he devotes so much time entertaining conspiracy theories. He's wasting his life trying to get others to notice him, but I, as well as many others, choose not to give him the attention.

I suggest you put him on ignore as well. Let him waste his life being angry, paranoid, and bitter.

This, absolutely disgusting actions by the parents. You loved and cared for this girl for nearly 20 years of your lives, and one single thing like this makes you throw all of that away and treat her like garbage? It makes me sick.

What's disgusting is that they are throwing her out simply because she is in love with another person.

http://www.towleroad.com/2018/11/emily-scheck-gay-college-athlete/
Emily Scheck, a cross-country runner at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York, was cut out of her familys lives after her mother found a photo of the girl she was dating. Schecks father went so far as to drive to Buffalo from Rochester with all her belongings, remove the license plates from her car and fill the automobile with all her belongings that were at home with a note that she was never to speak with the family or her siblings again.

Schecks friends launched a GoFundMe campaign which raised approximately $25,000 for her living expenses.

Wrote the campaign: To stay in school, Emily works two jobs: one at Wegmans and the other, a work study job on campus. She is on her way to declaring herself an independent and hard working individual but has been struggling to support herself while completing schoolwork and competing at a high level. All the working, running, and school assignments leave Emily no time to actually be a kid in college. Emily has no home, and has no family supporting her. In 2019, she will no longer be on her parents health care plan and will have a whole new set of expenses to be covered. She was kicked out of her home for being herself. No one deserves to have their home and siblings taken away from them for being their true selves. Though she has made a new home in Buffalo through her teammates and her girlfriend, Justyna, we can no longer stand by and do nothing.

Now the NCAA says that she must give all the money back or lose eligibility, Outsports reports: She said she was contacted by an NCAA compliance officer at Canisius College and told she had two options, per his communication with the NCAA: Return every penny and maintain her NCAA eligibility, or keep the money and leave the cross-country team. She said the school offered to try to find some way to work with the NCAA to then raise some money all over again, but there were no guarantees. She claims lawyers were going to have to get involved, and there was no assurance shed come out the other side of it with a penny.

Canisius College is standing by the NCAA: After a review by the Colleges compliance staff, and following consultation with the NCAA, it was determined that the online crowdfunding webpage was organized and promoted in a manner not permitted under NCAA legislation. Canisius informed the student-athletes that it would be necessary to end the online fundraising effort and work with the website host to return the donations received in order to preserve the student-athletes eligibility.

Wouldn't surprise me at all if the reason her parents are disowning her because of their religion.

This is sad.

An Iowa man posted video on Facebook Friday as he tossed childrens and young adult library books with LGBTQ themes into a fire.

You wont be peddling this one anymore, Paul Dorr said in the 30-minute video, as he tossed a picture book into the fire. You should all be ashamed of yourselves and repent.

Dorr said he burned the books in part as a response to the second-annual LGBTQ pride festival in Orange City, Iowa, over the weekend, the Sioux City Journal reports. Dorr is director of Rescue the Perishing, a pro-life and anti-gay group in northwest Iowa, according to the newspaper. Dorr also said he was upset about classroom sex talk an apparent reference to sexual education in schools as well as churches that embrace homosexuality.

Orange Citys library said its looking into potential legal action following the incident, the Des Moines Register reports.

Frankly, I found it disgusting. We are disturbed to see this, said Mark Stringer, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Iowa, according to the Register. Burning books from a public library is a clear attempt to shut down the open sharing and discussion of ideas. Its one person, or maybe a group, deciding that theyre the gatekeeper of ideas for the rest of the public.

Dorr tossed four Orange City Public Library books into the flames, according to the Sioux City Journal: Two Boys Kissing, This Day in June, Morris Micklewhite and the Tangerine Dress and Families, Families, Families!

For most of the video, Dorr explains his opposition to the sexual revolution, to homosexuality and to abortion. Hes sitting next a fire pit on a sunny day with a body of water behind him. At times, Dorrs voice is barely audible over the wind.

But about 25 minutes into the video, Dorr starts to pull out the books hes apparently checked out from the library, and explains why he thinks theyre inappropriate.

A new survey from YouGov and The Economist found that Trump voters believe men are more discriminated against in the U.S. than LGBTQ people, most ethnic minorities, and women.

NBC News reports: The survey asked 1,500 adults across the U.S. a series of questions on topics ranging from politics to baseball from Oct. 14 to Oct. 16. One question asked, How much discrimination do the following people face in America today? Respondents were then presented with a list of different demographic groups and could choose none at all, not much, a fair amount or a great deal. Forty-nine percent of Trump voters surveyed said men face either a great deal (18 percent) or a fair amount (31 percent) of discrimination in America today. By contrast, this same group found 41 percent of LGBTQ people, 30 percent of women, 38 percent of African-Americans and 42 percent of Mexican-Americans faced either a great deal or a fair amount of discrimination.

A new study in the Journal of Adolescent Health found many norms around gender, what's expected of boys and girls, become entrenched in adolescence and have negative impacts that carry into adulthood.

We knew some of this already. Existing research shows gender roles can harm both sexes. But the Global Early Adolescent Study which looked at girls and boys between 10-14 years old in 15 countries with varying income levels found many of these stereotypes are universal, and they become entrenched before 10 years old.

What are you arguing for? If boys don't want to play with Barbie dolls or read stories about princesses they shouldn't be forced to, or even expected to.

I never said they should be forced to do anything.

Only that rigid gender roles are harmful. Anyone with half a brain cell should know that. There are so many studies showing that rigid gender roles harms children and adults.

What is cringe about that? Gender roles exists in nature with animals. What is the issue there?

A boy should be able to read a book in which a female protagonist is present.

That doesn't make him less of a boy.

It's weird and creepy how obsessed society is with masculinity. As if anything even remotely "feminine" will somehow undermine their son's masculinity.

I am on book tour for the latest installment in the chapter book series The Princess in Black. A woman asks, So when are you going to write a series like this for boys? I say, These books are for boys. And girls. For anyone who likes to read about a monster-battling hero. The woman looks skeptical. She is certain no boy would be caught dead reading a book about girl, let alone a princess.

I publish the graphic novel Real Friends, an autobiographical story of my elementary school friendships. Book bloggers and online reviewers begin to recommend it but advise against giving it to boys since most of the characters are girls.

A school librarian introduces me before I give an assembly. Girls, youre in for a real treat. You will love Shannon Hales books. Boys, I expect you to behave anyway.

At a book signing, a mother looks sadly at my books. I wish I could buy some for my kids, but I only have boys.

A little boy points to one of my books and exclaims, I want that one! His father pulls him away. No, thats a girl book.

It is clear our culture assumes:

1. Boys are not going to like a book that stars a girl.

2. Mens stories are universal, while womens stories are only for girls.

After all, books about boys (Harry Potter, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Holes) are for everyone, but books about girls (Judy Blumes novels, Anne of Green Gables, Twilight) are just for girls.

[These books can help build strong girls and boys for todays world]

I was not always sure this assumption was incorrect. Early in my career, I was publicized as the author of Princess Academy, my most well-known book, and predictably, only girls and their mothers attended my signings, with just a few brothers lurking in the back or the occasional forward-thinking home-schooled guy.

For the first time I had evidence that contradicted everything I had been taught about boys and reading. I started to pay more attention and found I did in fact have many boy readers most likely hundreds of thousands of them at this point, but they had been reading in secret because they were embarrassed. I got better at noticing the myriad ways adults teach boys they should feel ashamed for taking an interest in a story about a girl, from outright (Put that down, thats a girl book) to subtle (I think youll like this book even though its about a girl). There is peer shaming as well, but it starts with and is supported by adults.

Pretty sad how it's adults who continue to enforce gender roles on their children.

And people wonder why males are so emotionally stunted growing up. They are constantly taught that anything associated with "femininity" is bad. I feel like that's partly why they have trouble expressing their emotions and instead they bottle everything up, which we all know is extremely unhealthy.

Pop music icon Taylor Swift historically has not shared her political views but that changed in a big way over the weekend with an Instagram post to her 112 million Swifties indicating shed be voting against anti-gay Rep. Marsha Blackburn and for her opponent, former Governor Phil Bredesen in the U.S. Senate race in Tennessee. Swift also said shed vote for Democrat Jim Cooper in his U.S. House race.

Swift indicated that Blackburns anti-LGBTQ and anti-women votes and views appall and terrify her. Blackburn is also a climate change denier.

Cooper is considered a safe bet to retain his seat, but Bredesen is trying to flip the Senate seat from red to blue.

Wrote Swift: Im writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which Ill be voting in the state of Tennessee. In the past Ive been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now. I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.

She added: I cannot vote for someone who will not be willing to fight for dignity for ALL Americans, no matter their skin color, gender or who they love. Running for Senate in the state of Tennessee is a woman named Marsha Blackburn. As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I cannot support Marsha Blackburn. Her voting record in Congress appalls and terrifies me. She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. These are not MY Tennessee values.

I will be voting for Phil Bredesen for Senate and Jim Cooper for House of Representatives, she said, urging others to get out and vote. Please, please educate yourself on the candidates running in your state and vote based on who most closely represents your values. For a lot of us, we may never find a candidate or party with whom we agree 100% on every issue, but we have to vote anyway. So many intelligent, thoughtful, self-possessed people have turned 18 in the past two years and now have the right and privilege to make their vote count. But first you need to register, which is quick and easy to do. October 9th is the LAST DAY to register to vote in the state of TN. Go to vote.org and you can find all the info. Happy Voting!

http://www.towleroad.com/2018/10/vinnie-favale/
Stephen Colbert spoke out on The Late Show after CBS suspended Vinnie Favale, a senior executive who was accused by multiple employees of sexual and homophobic language in the workplace. Favale was placed on administrative leave on Wednesday.

CNN interviewed nine employees and heard some disturbing things. Favale told CBS employees that Jennifer Hudson gave him an erection while she was rehearsing for The Late Show.

One employee said that at a meeting where construction was happening outside the window Favale had told her that a drill being used reminded him of a big black dick and after she reported the remarks to supervisors she began being shut out of meetings.

Another employee said Favale used the words homos and gay in a derogatory way, and questioned Colberts sexual orientation because he thought the Late Night host had an inability to interview women.

Favale also questioned Hugh Jackmans sexual orientation to other employees: The employee said that Favale was standing in front of five to seven colleagues when she heard him say Jackman was gay and in the closet. Favale allegedly described Jackmans now 22 year marriage to Deborra-lee Furness as fake.

Favale also allegedly talked about Rachel Maddow by asking, Who wants to see that ugly man on TV?

Favale denied making the statement, telling CNN, in part: Allegations that I have ever retaliated against anyone in any fashion are 100% false. I have spent my entire career working at comedy shows, where there has always been a wide latitude to make transgressive jokes while preparing the program. While we make a lot of jokes, these jokes attributed to me, whether said in rehearsals or production meetings, are being taken out of context and were not said in the way being presented here.

CBS has also denied allegations that its HR department ignored complaints.

Favale started his career with CBS in 1996 and served as a senior programming executive for The Late Show with David Letterman and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert through 2017 according to CNN.

Colbert commented on Favales departure on his show Wednesday night.

Said Colbert: An article came out on CNN today about an executive at CBS who used to be a liaison to this show. He basically came with the building when I got this show, and he used to be around here a lot. About six months into this show, some of our employees said they were uncomfortable with some of the things that he said, so we took their complaints to HR. They investigated, twice, but I dont really know what if anything, happened. It seemed like someone was protecting this guy. I dont know who it was. We eventually convinced the network to make a change. So, Im grateful to CNN for writing this article, because the press is not the enemy of the people. This is why you want a free press. This is why you want investigative journalism. Its to make sure that government and companies and people are accountable for their actions.

It's getting harder and harder these days to be an avowed homophobic idiot.

James Roche, the Yale roommate of SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh also mentioned by Kit Winter, the gay man who talked with New York magazine about his experience rooming with Kavanaugh, appeared on CNNs Anderson Cooper 360 last night.

Roche told Anderson that Kavanaugh lied under oath about his drinking. Roche was not interviewed for the sham FBI report so its unclear what effect his statements could have, if any.

Wrote Roche: Now the FBI is investigating this incident. I am willing to speak with them about my experiences at Yale with both Debbie and Brett. I would tell them this: Brett Kavanaugh stood up under oath and lied about his drinking and about the meaning of words in his yearbook. He did so baldly, without hesitation or reservation. In his words and his behavior, Judge Kavanaugh has shown contempt for the truth, for the process, for the rule of law, and for accountability. His willingness to lie to avoid embarrassment throws doubt on his denials about the larger questions of sexual assault. In contrast, I cannot remember ever having a reason to distrust anything, large or small, that I have heard from Debbie.

Anonymous Content has nabbed the rights to What If Its Us, a young-adult novel thats attracting a lot of buzz before its publication next month. The company has tapped 13 Reasons Why creator and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Brian Yorkey to adapt the book for the big screen.

What If Its Us is generating a lot of attention because its the first collaboration between Adam Silvera and Becky Albertalli, two authors who have scored notable successes by writing queer love stories aimed at teens. Albertalli wrote Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, which was recently adapted into the film Love, Simon, and Silvera penned They Both Die at the End. What If Its Us is in a similar vein. It centers on on a meet-cute between two boys at a post office and the subsequent trials and tribulations of their relationship. BuzzFeed, Publishers Weekly, and Bustle are among the outlets that have listed What If Its Us as one the most highly anticipated books of the fall. It is set to be released Oct. 9 by Balzer + Bray HarperTeen.

atleast twice a week. I love them.

You know what the difference between a chickpea and a garbonzo bean is?

@CirocObama Speaking of chickpeas, do you ever make your own hummus?

It's so easy and better than the store bought variety.

What an embarrassing topic.

Why would gay people (and all the straight people who support them) care about this?

In the past, people were only pissed that Chik-Fil-A was caught donating money to anti-gay groups.

Now that that is no longer the case, nobody cares anymore.

I drink some plain black coffee before I hit the gym. My workouts are a lot better as a result.

Women have it so easy fam

They just gotta be thin

For men to look good they have to work out for multiple years. Be both lean and muscular.

Yeah, but they tend to age terribly relative to us men.

Thinner skin, menopause, etc.

Men have it a lot easier in life as they get older (thirties, forties, and up). Women have it harder.

https://sputniknews.com/world/201806031065059114-Study-Links-Low-Intelligence-to-Fear-of-Gay-Lifestyle/
A new study from researchers at University of Queensland, Australia, has identified that those with low cognitive ability defined as diminished mechanisms of learning, memory, problem-solving, and attention focus are much more likely to be prejudiced against people with different lifestyles, notably sexual orientation.

Participants in the exhaustive research project who scored low in three cognitive ability measures were consistently found to disagree with statements supporting equal rights for same-sex couples and the LGBT population, according to Inquisitr.com.

The study, titled "The Cognitive Roots of Prejudice Towards Same-Sex Couples: An Analysis of an Australian National Sample," was published in the peer-reviewed journal Intelligence, and is claimed to be the first deep analysis of the relationship between low cognitive ability and attitudes toward LGBT issues.

The Queensland study analyzed data acquired from over 11,600 Australians participating in a Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia survey that sought, in part, to detail family dynamics, as well as identify economic and emotional well-being in the nation.

In a statement, study author Perales noted that, "despite the significance [] of the subject matter, few studies have specifically addressed the links between cognitive ability and attitudes towards LGBT issues."

There have been a lot of studies that have come the same conclusion, but this is by far the biggest study on this subject.

What do you guys think? Surprising? Or unsurprising?

Almost more offended by how childish and stupid his actions were than the offense behind them.

Prejudice is bad but the stupidity and immaturity to openly insult a customer who was not being antagonistic or even overbearing. Especially if he thought singing it in Spanish would prevent them form understanding. Dude like 20% of the country can speak Spanish and you live in a state bordering Mexico. Chances are at least one person in the room speaks it and will call your ass out.

Not to mention since when was hugging another man a gay specfic thing?

Don't want a dumbass handling food or customer service. A prejudiced dumbass is even worse.

Fair fucking next.

https://www.dallasnews.com/news/texas/2018/08/31/texas-restaurant-apologizes-fires-employee-accused-taunting-customers-gay-slur
A restaurant in South Texas has apologized and fired an employee after the worker was accused of using a homophobic slur to refer to customers this week.

Sandra Clement, a high-school principal, wrote on Facebook that she'd gone to the Agave Jalisco Mexican Restaurant in Corpus Christi with her son and his boyfriend on Thursday.

Clement wrote that after her son hugged her boyfriend, a male employee pointed at them and yelled a derogatory anti-gay term in Spanish. He continued to sing the word over and over as he walked to the kitchen.

Agave Jalisco released a statement Friday offering its "most sincere apology."

"We know the seriousness of this issue, and want to state that we do not condone or accept this type of homophobic behavior," the statement read. "We are family owned, we have taught our family and children to go out into the world and treat everyone the same way that they would want to be treated."

The restaurant said it had fired the employee and would require the rest of its staff to take sensitivity training to prevent any such incident from happening again.

Clement wrote in a subsequent Facebook post that her son, his boyfriend and their family applauded the restaurant's quick action and encouraged people to support the business, "as they have shown true character and compassion."

She deleted other posts she'd made about the incident "so we can move forward as a community."

"I can't put into words how thankful we are for all the love and support our son and his boyfriend have received," she wrote. "Above all else, let's be kind."

It's getting harder and harder to be an avowed anti-gay person in 2018.
