The razor-thin Florida Senate race between Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson and the states Republican Gov. Rick Scott is headed to a recount, Nelsons campaign announced Wednesday morning.

With more than 8 million votes cast, the two candidates are separated by fewer than 35,000 votes, with Scott holding the slim lead. Nelsons campaign sent out a statement at 1 a.m. saying it was not the result Senator Nelson and his campaign had worked so hard for, but that the statement was "not a concession.

In a followup statement at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nelsons campaign announced that overnight the lead shrunk to a 0.4 percent lead for Scott, which is within the one-half percent margin to trigger a recount under state law.

Maybe Dems will eek out a minor victory here as well.

she's a sometimes ill-informed libertarian-who-supports-UHC. a strange hodgepodge of well-informed and not, typical of people who have dedicated their lives to being absolute experts in a specific field, in her case medicine and the economic structure surrounding it.

This is all true but she also posts needlessly aggravating bs. After enough time, you don't get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to being a dick.
Instead of closing her account she could've just taken some time away from posting in political topics if she is constantly getting herself into a mess.

You just drove away a good person who would post their honest opinion. If you guys wouldve just simply explained how she was wrong(respectfully) instead of accusing her of being a racist and hurling insults she probably would have been fine.

Hatred for a skin color or some other false stereotype.

Also consider how racism evolves. Racists begin carrying hatred for people with a different skin tone. They start thinking theyre better than those people.

Consider this hatred you have for coffee right now. What is it based in? I see a lot of posts that are obviously based off a revenge factor (from her prior opinions). One may argue its the very same type of hatred that fuels racism. A lot of people are eager to post or prove theyre better than her right now. Sound familiar??? Yes, I think some of you have stooped to the level that racists use. Youre running on the same type of fuel.

There is a very large difference between shitting on someone for something they cannot control (such as race) and something they can (such as political views). Please do not bring your victim complex into this.
She does have history of making comments like this. That is precisely why she received the reaction she did. It's the "technically I'm not racist for this comment" which is true but they begin to add up overtime as a pattern.
And also, nobody knew she had a "wrong" opinion. She used a term incorrectly, but the sentence still works. It's not the burden of everyone else to react to that post with "hey buddy, do you know what a false flag is?" Especially since it's not exactly an uncommon term, there's just no reason to assume she's ignorant of the word. It's not their responsibility to make sure she is accurately communicating her thoughts via text.

The problem with that topic, and @Coffeebeanz in general, is that she doesn't really help herself.

I don't know if she's truly a woman and a doctor, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt because it's not really important to most discussions on CE.
She can be really insensitive to certain topics and people. There is a very good reason that people no longer give her the benefit of the doubt. Most other posters could get a pass for saying 'false flag' and then backtracking and saying they fucked up with the word choice, but this isn't the first time she's said something that essentially excuses this kind of crap. In a vacuum (lol) she's right, the post was not that bad and she could have just 'gotten away with it' and nobody would hound her on it, but given her post history people have to use context to judge a posts.
It's ridiculous that she demanded an apology and went so far as to PM people to post in the topic that they're sorry. This is a fucking dying message board... Stop. Taking. It. So. Seriously.
She should have just moved on. Take the loss and ignore the topic. Her reputation is already shit it's weird that this is what crossed the line for her.
As for closing an account? Lmao. C'mon. She'll either be back or she won't.

She likes the attention and likes being contrarian. Stop giving it to her.

You know what I don't get? Why the fuck they refuse to use anything but Roman Numerals, and then just fucking ignore the proper numeral for IV, creating some lame ass IIII that is half indistinguishable unless you focus on it.

Not really. Most people don't inherit any wealth, and rich families lose most of their money by the 3rd generation that inherited any. As long as your grandparents and parents reproduced and didn't royally fuck up, you're basically on the same footing as everyone else.

I disagree. I'm from a fairly poor white family but I had one advantage: my grandparents.
My grandpa was an officer in the Air Force. They were well off and taken care of even in their later years due to his pension. I got my first car because they were able to afford it, I was able to go to a college out of my home state because they lived there and allowed me to stay with them, when my mom left my dad they were able to pay her rent so we had a place to stay. Etc.
If I were black, my grandpa would not have been as successful. If he hadn't been as successful I would not be in the place I am today.
