When? Its pretty much already happened.

Indeed. They are one of what, three powers to actually make a proper 5th generation fighter jet?

They are doing a decent job keeping their military power up to spec. They just aren't focusing too much energy into the actual mass production of the technology right now and are prioritizing internal affairs and modernization.

They possess a great deal of manufacturing power and general clout, and the notion that they just make crappy knock-offs (and or merely assemble authentic items for foreign companies) is becoming outdated.

As far as wars go, I honestly think China is more likely to go to war with North Korea than the USA. They put on a friendly face, but China isn't particularly any more fond of NK than anyone else, aside from the fact that it just happens to make a nice buffer zone so long as NK's paranoia is only looking south or at the south's allies.

If that is directed towards me, I insinuated that 7 ought to be the least commonly used microwave number for various reasons, some of which may or may not be applicable to either only myself OR some sort of superstitious "gambler" type person, but which may also apply to other people who are neither of those things.

I made a type in that sentence before the "..." though, in that it should be "People who type 59 instead of 1:00."

Indeed, if anything,7 or 8 ought to be least common.

Normal recipes rarely would specify heating for 7-8 minutes.

And no recipe would specify heating for a time ENDING with 7-8.

So whichever sees more ACTUAL use would basically be:

number of minutes on number-for-instant-minutes-press vs. People who decide to type 58 instead of 59.

...

In that case, let us be honest.

7. 7 is the least used. People with a disposition towards making vain attempts to please some goddess of luck even in the most mundane of activities of luck will choose 7 (due to some conception that 7=lucky), but otherwise, who uses 7?

9 can be used by people who want either 1:30, or people who want to just say 59. 8 can be used fir 1:20. What can 7 be used for?

My current microwave has the start button also function as a +30 seconds button, so at present I use that on it. But for microwaves without that, 59 is the way I typically do a "minute."

I don't like microwaves that do X minutes if the only thing you press is one number button. Because then, you have to press an EXTRA button if you want something other than a flat number of minutes.

9 also gets use if you are lazy and just put in 59 seconds instead of 1:00 (especially since the two numbers tend to line up in a row ending with the "start" button).

8 though, not really sure when I'd use that one.

So a kid sees a movie wherein a kid sticks his tongue to a poll and subsequently suffers greatly... is inspired to stick his tongue to a real poll in winter and thus do exactly the very thing that is portrayed to cause a good bit of suffering in a movie.

I wasn't that stupid as a kid. No one I knew at the time was that stupid at that age as a kid. Maybe one guy, but he was a college student and drank/smoked/etc. way too much, so you can at least argue he had damaged his attic by that point. 11 year old kids tend to be remarkably lacking in stupidity most of the time though. They are often NAIVE, sure. But stupid, not so much.

Since this type of news doesn't show up all the time, I'd like to assume its more an outlier. Like that Naruto-watching kid who thought it was a good idea to bury himself in sand.

Incidentally, this is why some series (such as the Atelier series) looked so awkward on the PS3.

Games like Atelier Iris and Mana Khemia were made in 2D (or at least using 2D sprites) as late as the late PS2 era. And when the company that made them finally decided to switch to full 3D for PS3, they wound up with outright laughable 3D animation and 3D engines, made all the more noticeable by the fact that they still wound up with very high resolution and framerates compared to back when people were still figuring out "how to 3D" back on the PSX.

For that last part, actually go look at some video footage of, say, Final Fantasy 7's walking animations, or its in battle attack or spell animations. The characters "running" to an enemy from where they stand for a basic attack is literally a SINGLE "FRAME" of model movement (and due to the framerate, it only really actually shows on screen for a few frames so its not very noticeable).

To be fair, I could actually see it do decently.

It just can't do the same gigantic stores it used to. Instead, settling for store sizes maybe 1-2 typical restaurants in size, depending on the location. They can have a really big sign though.

There is probably some worth to continuing to sell video games, but they should only allot one isle to that (since just about everyone sells those anyway), and focus more on, well, toys.

Honestly, part of the reason it died market-wise is just down to kids wanting fewer physical toys these days. But the physical video game market was already napped up by places like Best Buy, dedicated video game stores, and even some more generic stores. Video games are also something that is easy to order online, since you can get a good idea of what they are like with just media and all (and nowadays you can also purchase them from the console stores and download them digitally as well).

All the while, Toys R Us didn't think that they needed to switch down to a smaller sized store. It was only a matter of time. That "leveraged takeover" or whatever was just the second cement shoe.

Sephiroth C Ryu
11/19/18 7:42:05 PM

Oh, I have an even better one.

I save my dog.

Why?

Because I somehow know for a fact that somewhere in this building there is a random baby. And somehow I also know about how long it will be until the building collapses.

In other words, it is no accident that I know these things. Clearly, in this scenario, I am a psychopath who started the fire in the first place, after carefully running simulations and everything down to the estimated rate of loss of structural integrity and everything. And when I planned it, I planned it for a time when I KNEW that random baby would at least be in the building somewhere, presumably because from the get go I determined that random baby as one of the things that must be cleansed from this world. Because again, PSYCHOPATH.

In fact, why am I even saving some mutt for that matter? Oh, maybe I'm a psychopath that also just happens to think dogs are divine messengers or something? Sure, why not.

Sephiroth C Ryu

Indeed. Given the scenario we have, it is extremely difficult to know about the baby.

It would really be a choice of:

1. Go try to save your dog. You do not actually know if its alive still. You only know you left it in the apartment before going out to do whatever it was that you came back from to see a burning building. If it is an extremely loud dog that has been getting complaints like "I can hear that thing from the STREETS damnit!", then you might notice it isn't barking. You likely assume it is too late.

2. Look around, and remember that there is at least one baby that lives in that building. You have no clue where that baby is.

That is, of course, given a scenario that you were OUTSIDE at the time, of course.

The ACTUAL scenario is:

-You have already run inside and successfully saved your own baby (or at least someone precious to you that you only need one arm to save).

As a result, your choice is instead:

1. You are still in your apartment and look and see your doggy. And so you try to save them too.

2. You ignore your dog on the random chance that there might be a baby somewhere else in the building that you need your arm for. Or, despite having both arms full with two things that need rescuing (the dog and your OWN baby/whatever), you purposely DON'T leave the building and go running around, just in case there is some random baby somewhere or something, perhaps due to paranoia from reading this topic earlier.

3. There is some unknown baby in your apartment, near your dog. Why the hell it is there, you don't know. It shouldn't be possible for an unknown baby to have gotten into your apartment. What the hell? Crap, if I don't take the baby, the police will definitely make me out to be a criminal for kidnapping or something.

4. You are the Oracle of Delphi, only your power lets you actually choose between possible futures and fate is not just locked in place. Look at that! You now have an actual dilemma due to ACTUALLY being able to know everything about the scenario and the building collapsing and the fact that there is a baby somewhere!

Swatter should be charged and deserves what he gets, but so should the police officer. If the situation had been real he could have easily been shooting a hostage. Police cannot operate like that when 99% of the people they interact with are not criminals.

Honestly, this is the first decent post made this topic on what the officer ACTUALLY did wrong.

If I were an actual criminal in a real version of what that swatter faked, and someone rang the door bell in the middle of whatever the hell I am doing, why the hell would I BE THE ONE TO ANSWER THE DOOR? Hell no. Especially if I saw and heard sirens. I would make one hostage answer the door while telling them I will shoot another hostage(s) (likely their loved ones) member if they say anything wrong.

Or if I have reason to believe I have been sufficiently compromised, I will drag one of the hostages with me to use as a shield.

If you are a police man responding to a criminal holed up in a house with hostages, YOU DO NOT FIRE ON WHOEVER OPENS THE DOOR.

Regardless of which of these two actions this hypothetical criminal did, that officer would have shot an innocent victim when the door opened.

Also, the Gungans did NOT do the same thing. They actually still had actual technology what with the energy-shield...shields and the energy...spears, and the electro-ball slingshots or whatever, and the giant mount-carried energy dome shield emitter. Hey, before you laugh, those awesome wookie bowcasters are also a sort of weird "old-fashioned yet high tech" weapon, and Jedi like using SWORDS.

Oh, right. Even with this, the Gungans LOST. They were basically captured and in the midst of being escorted away somewhere by the droids when some kid just happened to blow up the one ship the Trade Federation thought to leave behind which also happened to be contain the mega-droid AI that controlled ALL the droids remotely. Which then let the Gungans get all happy and just walk up to the inert droids and push them over with their hands.

Force Awakens girl probably has experience swinging around a pipe or something during salvaging trips.

And in fairness, Luke was a farmer with ZERO potentially dangerous lifestyle elements to that point (with the exception of apparently shooting "wamp rats" with an armed flying vehicle somewhere along the line), yet he was able to at least hold his own against Vader for a fair amount of time before his first loss. With Vader's only real concern being that he probably didn't want to inflict a wound that would outright kill Luke in a single hit (which thanks to the cauterizing effect of light sabers, pretty much only means "don't stab a vital organ with the beam-sword and he will live").

Up to that point: Vader: Is a veteran of the Clone Wars and has been in many battles since then as well, and has fought against numerous Sith and/or Jedi up and has usually won or stalemated against them. Luke: Has been trained for a couple days by Obi-wan with no actual combat experience, and used a Yoda as a backpack for, what, a week at most?

In comparison, in Force Awakens we have a protagonist who is a salvager with unknown combat experience (likely centered around melee weapons if anything, though she also seems to know how to fly stuff), and just no training in the Force itself. Verses a sith guy who is frankly a mental mess himself for most of that film (and if not for a dramatically timed change in a scene's lighting, may well have even turned away from the dark side), and likely has very limited combat experience when compared to Vader, and may well have never even fought against another force user regardless of whatever Sith training he got up until then.

The guy is a NOOB compared to Vader and is suffering substantial instability issues throughout the Force Awakens. And he even has the same issue that Vader has on top of this, if not worse, where he likely doesn't want to kill her. As for her, even assuming zero prior combat experience, she differs from Luke in only about a week of some semblance of training.

Frankly, its more reasonable that the funny-nosed Sith wannabe who is very unstable would lose to a scavenger girl than it is that a highly experienced veteran of a war with lots of combat against actual lightsaber-wielding force users would even have a little trouble with a farmer kid who just sometimes flew an old fighter or something around shooting oversized rodents instead of just parrying the lad within the first few moves and lopping off a hand or something.

Indeed, a "'thing' you can't do" (as per the topic's other posts at least) seems to refer to things you cannot simply do just from learning or getting demonstrations.

Something like whistling or wiggling your ears for instance. No matter what advice you give a person, they may not be able to do it. Whistling itself is arguably borderline since you could potentially figure it out on your own with enough struggling, but simply hearing how to do it or seeing someone else do it will not let you reproduce it.

Honestly asking?

What are notable dishes of specifically Germanic descent?

Wurst. Sausage. That is awesome, and you can indeed eat it as-is, but it is often then used as an ingredient for other things.

They have a unique bread or two as well, but that again is better as an ingredient for other superior dishes than simply eating alone.

Maybe Germanic history has just landed it the bad luck of mostly producing things that are, frankly, good, but become even BETTER when used as an ingredient for something else?

Oh, right. Germanic history is also short. Germany (and/or its predecessors) as a nation is actually fairly new on the national scenes. It really started becoming a proper nation when, the 1700s or 1800s? Most other nations at least had started unifying themselves into what modern civilization would call a "nation" long before Germany did.

So maybe its not surprising that most of Germany's contributions are in fact things that taste great, but are honestly things that themselves serve as awesome ingredients and/or side-dishes for even better things.

You can get both jobs/classes in a single playthrough, without anything like NG+. You have to choose between which one you get first for a number of the jobs/classes, and the other one then becomes unavailable for a little while until you then get the opportunity to get it later.

I heard this much going in, so naturally I went thief first for completionistic purposes (i.e. just in case some enemy between the first chance and second chance for thief happened to have some unique steal or something. That said, I never did look into whether or not that was the case so its quite possible that it just got me a bunch of potions and some equipment that had alternate acquisition options).

Well, unless you are a nutcase completionist, even if there were such a unique item, it would be extremely outclassed by something you can get later anyway so its fine.

Well, Phoenix itself tends to be your typical desert most of the time. Dry for most of the year, usually warm or hot during the day, and cool to cold at night.

They are about to/are currently getting hit by the remnants of a Hurricane that clearly decided that Florida or Hawaii was too overdone/cliche, and decided to just aim itself at Arizona instead (naturally, since it is crossing a bit of Mexico first it will not be at Hurricane or Tropical Storm strength by the time it gets there, but it will still bring a reasonable bit of rain to the area).

I have had a lot of fun this week seeing the kinds of expressions people have had when I told them a HURRICANE is aiming at ARIZONA.

That isn't the issue.

The repetitions can be knocked out MUCH faster than the first time through. You will spend most of the repetitions in the first one (where you may be checking out the new monsters and grinding a bit) and the last one (where you want to take care of stuff before finishing the game).

All the repetitions other than the first and last are pretty much pointless. But they ALSO don't take much time.
