The actual facts and qualifications should have been the first line of attack.

If qualifications mattered at all, they would have probably chosen someone else. The fact is, Republicans wanted Kavanaugh for his views and facts on qualifications. It didn't matter for a second whether he was impartial. In fact, if he was impartial, he wouldn't have been nominated.

This is not me saying it's only Republicans. Democrats do the same exact thing with the judges. Look at any Democratic Presidency and you'll see the judges stacked with liberal judges at that point. The Judicial system is just another form of political battle.

The reason that Kavanaugh I think pisses me off more than anything else is that while this is technically the second one Trump got to fill, the only reason he was able to appoint Gorsuch to the bench was because Republicans decided to literally shut down any attempt to replace Scalia for MONTHS. They literally got rewarded for not doing their job, and once Ruth passes on (she will, let's not kid ourselves), the SC is going to be delivering Republican ideals for the next 40 years. There's going to be a generation of Americans who are going to see nothing but Republican favored votes in the SC.

I knew this was coming the moment that the investigation was held to only a week. And it didn't even make it the full week. Either there was nothing or, as more and more comes out, they were never really going to look into everything and just push forward with what they had.

And honestly? There was no chance of him failing anyway. Flake was goign to vote yes, Collins too. Murkowski is really the only shocking no, and I wouldn't be surprised if she votes Yes come the official vote.

I wholly expect next month to come and go, and for Republicans to actually pick up seats. And I'll say this; if Democrats can't actually make gains after these last two years, then 1) The system is fucked to the point where there's no going back, or 2) We deserve every bad thing that happens in Congress over the next two years.

I fully expect Roe v. Wade to be revoked in some way within the next 6 months to a year. The first Abortion issue that comes before them is going to be used to set new precedent.

I just don't understand the calendar defense at all. The whole thing seems weak. Is he saying he's never attended an event that wasn't on his calendar?

That's sort of what it feels like. Like, it feels like his argument is that if it's not on the calendar, he didn't do it or go to it. But there's certain claims that line up with the calendars anyway, so...

@The_Admiral

Wheres that screenshot of him calling the Manafort raid a nothingburger? Lmfao

Aren't Manafort's charges really unrelated to the campaign as a whole? Cohen saying he violated laws through Trump is much more damning to Trump than Manafort's charges which really deal with his personal dealings from what I read.

These particular ones are not as connected to Trump, but I believe there's at least a few on the state level that have to do with campaign finances and such.

Cohen is right now confessing that he violated campaign finance law with the payments of Stormy and Karen McDougal in coordination to and from the direction of Donald Trump.

Holy shit

This on top of everything else is what's really damning. Cohen is outright testifying that Trump ordered him to break federal laws. If that can be corroborated at all, it's impossible to ignore.

This would be the first real thing that would connect Trump to breaking a federal law while looking to enter office.
