People are assigning characteristics and traits to different genders and thinking/being told they must be transgender when a lot of it is just being human. Also if a guy wants to get advice online about thoughts or experiences of wearing women's clothes they'll get told they must be transgender when maybe they're just a cross dresser. I'm speaking as someone who used to be into wearing women's clothes, shared this with a friend/partner and online then when I was very mentally vulnerable came to believe through listening to others that I must be transgender and it explained how uncomfortable I'd always felt about myself. I spoke to doctors about it, I spent time in hospital in a women's mental health ward because that was thought to be the best place for me and I tried living as a woman to the best I could. Eventually I realised it wasn't who I was and I'm happy being a man. The idea that every person who comes out as transgender is correct and genuine is a dangerous myth. --- if i ventured in the slipstream |
