Lasa, I know you are more intelligent than the other people who usually engage me. Look at the relentless attack against family and morality since the end of WW2. Look also at the results from that attack (divorce rates through the roof, broken families through the roof, mental instability - and the respective destructive acts - through the roof).

Do you believe it is all just a coincidence?

Do you believe it is actually us, the ones who want to preserve the family, who want children to have a loving mother and father and to be raised in a healthy way, who love life and love what makes us human, that are to blame for those results?

i don't see how this is a response to my point about molyneux you quoted but uh... check out full throttle's topic for my views on this family bullshit.

i did and that was a response to your statement.

my point was that you're acting exactly like jack thompson. the only difference is that thompson is going "IT'S GTA'S FAULT" while you're going "IT'S SINGLE MOMS' FAULT" (wow, seems like you and muffin agree on something for once). neither of you put the blame where it belongs: on the people committing the fucking crimes. also, you're both hilariously wrong.

seriously, why do people like you assume everyone in the world starts out tabula rasa and when they do something fucked up it's because of some external factor? it's like how muffin literally read elliot rodger's entire autobiography, which makes it ABUNDANDTLY clear that he was fucked up since birth, yet muffin still claimed that rodger committed the crimes "because his parents were divorced." fucking incredible.

in lee's defense, to an extent he was actually pretty open about what he did. he openly admitted his invented "marvel method" consisted of him coming up with a rough outline for a story, the artist fleshing out the story and then lee filling in the dialogue.

just seems wrong to put "written by stan lee" on the comic without giving the artist any kind of writing credit when that's how you cooperate, is all.

well, the problem is that lee took credit for a LOT of characters/stories/ideas that actually came from other people (kirby was probably the biggest victim of this). i'd say this goes a lot further than "typical boss behavior."

i think bob kane acted similarly when it came to batman (if i'm not mistaken - i don't know much about DC stuff), so you can at least make the argument that lee's behavior wasn't unique in the world of superhero comics, but uh... that doesn't make it excusable.

yeah, don't lose my number is one of my favorite phil collins songs and i would never want to listen to the song via the music video (even though it's a funny video, for sure).

yeah, i think daft punk is kind of like the orson welles of music, by which i mean that what they say about their own stuff should be taken with a grain of salt. in my view there absolutely is meaning to the video.

...that being said, i'm a pretty pretentious guy when it comes to movies and sometimes i might read too much into them. i even think there's some kind of meaning to un chien andalou, even though buuel and dal insisted that it's completely meaningless. (man, this reminds me of when i had an argument with muffin about the producers [the original movie]. he insisted that it's a comedy and nothing more, i insisted that there's more to it.)

yeah, the original video is the one for da funk.

i love the fresh video (why didn't daft punk direct more videos?!), and for many more reasons than a beach being the featured location. i love how... ambiguous it is. it shows charlie the dog having a negative experience (trying to explain something to the director who isn't listening) and a positive experience (talking to his girlfriend). gives it a very "slice of life" feel. also, endings are very important to me so i love how it ends with an appreciation for the sea. and i'm a sucker for continuous long takes.

i didn't link to it when i recommended the track, though, because i see it as a short film rather than a "music video." the video kind of overshadows the music.

yeah, it's fair to say new square isn't doing well (with the exception of auron - though i'd say a character created in 2001 is only borderline "new square") but that isn't emblematic of square. newer characters in general aren't doing that hot. "nostalgiaFAQs" is a thing for a reason.

eh, gotta agree with leonhart that people exaggerate how much square sucks this contest. the square characters who lose are guys like noctis, not powerhouses.

just seems like the crew sometimes overrates square's strength so they get some of these matches wrong (i think most of them took noctis over master hand, right?).

Bonus points for the birds at the transition between the instrumental and main part of the song (and a bit later in the song). Truthfully, I am drawn to any song that even briefly reminds me of an empty beach--seagulls, waves... it's hardly a coincidence that Maclir relied heavily on that sort of aesthetic and came in first place.

!

i live near a beach and it's one of my favorite places to be in the summer (if not my favorite place period), and this track always reminds me of that beach (obviously they're making the "beach" connotation super explicit with the waves sound effects [and the music video (which i didn't link to) makes it even more explicit]). this is truly one of my favorite music tracks and one of the main reasons why daft punk is one of my favorite musical duos.

...also, this isn't nearly as repetitive as the other daft punk stuff you've heard, so this may be a daft punk track you DO enjoy...!

that's too bad. i'm not super crazy about dance me this either, to be honest - i only recommended it because you enjoyed jazz from hell so much. i love the title track and i think the five wolf harbor tracks are good (and i think calculus is interesting, knowing how the track was made), but as a whole the album fails to be another jazz from hell.

anyway, very nice that you listened to all four of the zappa synclavier albums! i wouldn't be surprised if i never manage to get anyone else to listen to all of these albums for the rest of my life, so the fact that you did so is pretty special to me!
