I feel like people have a kind of blindness with Link. On the one hand, they rant about how he's invincible and will never ever be beaten and will utterly destroy everyone in his path.....but then when it comes to percentages, they don't expect him to beat his competition as badly as he's actually done in the past.

Now, I know I don't have great credibility this year because I was calling for Cloud to get mid-40s on Link, but 1) that was a hope-based prediction that wasn't terribly serious, and 2) lots of other people also predicted Cloud to get mid-40s on Link. The main reasoning for that was, it's Link vs. Cloud, and that's never been a blowout before. Which is fine, but Sephiroth has never been demolished by a 2nd tier Nintendo character either, so this is really quite a different story from 2010, where Link telegraphed signs of weakness for 3 rounds and FFVII, while faltering, didn't get blown out of the water like this year.

If Link got a boost anywhere near Zelda's boost, Cloud's 39% is not at all bad, considering what happened to Sephiroth. Zelda has never been worth more than 33% or so on Link before, and now she's supposed to be over 40%? Easier for me to believe that Mario is under 40% against Link indirectly, as he has been in almost every year, and Snake is below 40% on Link also due to Snake falling and Link boosting.

That's true, but very little of it was in politics. From the point of view of what should be, not what the law is right now, I don't think anything we've found is half as clear as Trump's own tweet asking for Putin to release Hillary's emails (which he could only have obtained through successful spying). That's right out in the open. We should make up our minds on whether that is okay or not.

I really don't see any difference between getting money from international corporations and foreign governments. Maybe one is legal but the other isn't, but that's a problem with the law. The fact that Hillary has 30 years of experience in doing shady things legally while Trump does not explains why his team is getting in legal trouble, but morally, it's all the same.

I still don't understand why it matters if they worked with Russia. Our politicians work with Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, etc. daily. We are not at war with Russia. Maybe the best ending to this is the Supreme Court finds that our laws against foreign collusion are unconstitutional for violating the 1st Amendment for freedom of association and freedom of speech. They already said money is speech, right?

35% for Crono against Link is not bad. He only got 37% in 2004, at his peak. Link had been on the decline for years before this contest, so it's easy to forget how dominant he can be, but with Zelda beating Mario Link may very well be at an all-time high himself. I think, 44% is definitely the best result Crono would have gotten against Cloud in any year.

We've had characters at NN strength before. Magus in 2003 (though later results made it seem like he was a fraud all along). Zero in 2004. Vincent in 2007. I think the nice thing about the NN is the consistency. It's very rare for an outsider to be able to maintain NN strength across multiple years.

(I called Cloud > Link 2003 based on anti-champion voting so I was rooting for that result).

As fun as it might be to have a Link vs. Link final, that feels like tempting fate too much. Too much winning creates resentment and anger, and attracts outside rallies to stop Link. Link vs. Link, even if it's only technically one contest, feels like a lightning rod for anger and rallies. It's better to quietly win consistently than to make an ostentatious show of superiority only to be crushed under an outside rally.

Snake was top for danger level, for sure. As a Link fan, one never feels nervous about Link vs. Cloud. I can comfortably vote for Cloud, rooting for him to make the margin closer, year after year after year, never thinking that I might put Link's victory in jeopardy. Link vs. Draven may have been the most fun I have had with a contest match. I was doing some long distance driving that day, which became much longer (timewise) because I spent hours at McDonalds restaurants along the road following the match and posting.

Draven's rally started from the opening of the match and I and a couple other people were the only ones who reasoned that Link still had a chance because the rally would fade off faster, and sure enough, come morning, the rally fell off and Gamefaqs natural vote intake rose and Link started cutting 1000+ per hour. Then came the DDOS attack during the height of Link's best time, which added controversy, and a little after that Draven caught his second rally and the match looked finished. Then came Link's fightback rally, where he started pulling updates on par with Draven and Undertale and cut 4000 votes into the face of a Draven rally before time ran out. What a match.

Like I said, I was really nervous about it for several years. Even in the Link/Snake bonus poll, I knew all it would take for Snake to win is for some people on the League of Legends subreddit to rally for Snake to stick it to our hero Link. Luckily they seemed not to realize how much more Link has won this contest than Snake.

Cloud will get some from Europe/Asia but if he was going to get a big movement, the kind needed to get him back to 44%, it would be from the anti-FFVII early vote shifting into the rest of the poll vote. Only, here, it's clear that the early vote went decisively for Cloud, because they really don't want Link to win again.
