comparing security footage to e-mails is pretty disingenuous as it's much more clear what the content of security footage is. like you pointed out, those e-mails might as well have contained cooking recipes. a better analogy would be if i destroyed hundreds of DVDs and it's completely unknown what the content on them was or something.

deleting gamefaqs posts DOES make them unrecoverable (assuming there isn't someone obsessively saving posts [which i would never do, of course]). you could try to find them back with google cache i guess, but there's a very small chance you will be able to recover them doing it that way.

i do think it's kinda interesting to think back to how palin was treated and compare that to how people are now treating trump, though. ever since palin became mccain's running mate she was bashed into the ground by both the left AND right for saying wrong and dumb stuff (exceptions notwithstanding) but people didn't care nearly as much about trump doing this (obviously). hot take: palin may be a smarter person than trump.

i'm sure mccain lost because obama was just too strong a candidate/mccain wasn't that great in the first place. but i think sexism plays a part in the totally different way palin was treated in comparison to trump, too.
