I'm trying to get a feel for what people consider good FPS mechanics to be. Personally speaking my two favorite feeling shooting mechanics (weight/feel/impact/etc) are shadows of chernobyl, hunt showdown, and red orchestra 2. But what do you guys think? What are some of your favorite FPS games, new and old?

In short, he was able to compromise a theoretical vision for society, economy and set up the foundation of how we know capitalistic exploitation could supposedly work -- it was his "worst case" scenario, but he also recognized it was the most likely to survive due to people being much more dilligent about their "fair cut" than they would be about "everyone elses cut" in a society run on hiearchy. He was right, but again, his economic models and political ideas were romantic but not effective.

Elon Musk is hard to read, and I've tried to get a picture for him. He's tenacious, focused, brilliant and definitely skilled as a leader, visionary and pathfinder in his field. But he's also dangerously bad on the PR front in todays society, constantly saying some snide stuff on social media, getting his foot in his mouth, smoking weed on a podcast (I know he didn't inhale, and I don't even care that he did. I'm just saying, from a public standpoint) and has had a hell of a rocky personal life that is hard to emulate or model.

I don't really know what his agenda is, beyond some far reaching idealism on the space front, and philanthropy with a tight filter on it.

I agree, UFC 2 is much better.

I just tried the stand and bang mode on very hard between two high level strikers and honestly the game just falls apart on the feet, too. Dodging or head/body movement is so wildly uncontrolled, like I can't just hold a button and spin that stick to rotate my upper torso? You kidding? I gotta flick it twice like a dark souls dodge, but when I do, I lose a ton of stamina and can't strike? These devs need to fire up fight night champion, see how it's done.

Edit: That's not to say I suck, I won the fight I'm complaining about, but not in a realistic way at all. The game is full of cheese and exploit.

Zero realism in punches or combos, stamina is ridiculous (Jose Aldo, me, playing conservatively and having 60% of stamina left. Conor, AI on Normal, has 99% and has been spamming attacks all day.)

The submission minigame is the most confusing, unfair thing since the AI cheats. You have a reaction window of 0.1 seconds with R2+ RS Down to stuff a takedown. Animations teleport or stop dead with no momentum. Career mode is atrocious.

Yikes.

Wandering the wasteland doesn't pose much of a threat. The enemy AI isn't great, nor are there even many enemies at all. No stuff hunting in packs, no small communities that are dynamic, nothing terribly unique or exciting going on in the wasteland. I'm about level 26 right now, on survival difficulty.

I really like the atmosphere, art style, graphics and how smooth gunplay is. But man if the game isn't boring as hell.

The scenario is this: For games that release toolkits or SDK's, a team rises up that makes great mods, maybe even total conversion. They're known as a team with a particular style, genre, and atmosphere. Let's say they make tons of mods for Skyrim, Fallout 4, RPG's. Their mods are well written, polished, and could pass off as professionally made.

This team continues to make mods (for free), but opens up a patreon to support their team to leapfrog from game to game, using their assets and released editors to make free mods, but now the community is paying them to do it. Since they are using /other/ games assets and profiting on them, inherently, would that still be legal? Or is it a video game developer piggybacking on other engines/assets to profit, thus being shady?

Thanks man, me too. I've always enjoyed the Lovecraftian style of horror and have been trying to perfect my own style the best I can by making walking sim/horror mods. Hopefully this last one will be the most polished form yet. I'll be sure to keep this topic active once a trailer comes, hopefully in the next few weeks.

I don't have a trailer just yet, but it'll be another Lovecraftian horror mod. This one is being made for Amnesia with the full suite of machine for pigs assets, plus a rather sizeable development team (my biggest yet) and more pre-planning and polish focus than ever before. It'll be neat.

CE has helped my studio with tons of advice and feedback over the years, I've released two total conversions for Crysis 1 set in a uniquely weird fiction / cosmic horror approach. This last one will actually have monsters, danger and puzzles for a change. No longer just strictly a walking simulator!

I like all kinds of metal. There's rarely anything I won't listen to once, even if it's bad. Currently on a traditional doom streak. Love me some of that. Next week it might be old school thrash. Who knows.

I listen to all kinds of stuff, from progressive to rock to indie to country to acoustic to rap to whatever. But it goes with my mood, but I tend to lean towards rock/metal the most.

Behemoths or massive vehicles barely help unless in adept hands. On the two operations I've played, no one ever gets enough tanks or planes. The maps remind me of Red Orchestra 2. Scout Classes reign supreme, and with no class limits, some of the ones -- like the naval invasion one -- are laughably frustrating for attackers.

This game isn't that great, even for $10. :/

Haha welcome to the UFC games dude. The controls are so convoluted and mostly unresponsive. If you're on the ground you almost never have any control of what you're doing even when youre inputting correctly.

But seriously, dude. What happened to the EA Sports MMA controls? The Fight Night scheme? Right stick for aiming in shapes. L1 for body, L2 for kicks I think. It was dead ass easy.

I cant' wrap my head around doing R2 -> direction -> L2 -> L1 -> Submissions -> Pick from the list -> Hope you get it in six seconds before the AI goes from a choke to full guard

The second the AI gets me down or grapples me the game becomes a joke. No momentum, no physics, no pacing. The AI can spaz transition on me like Khabib vs a comatose Don Frye, the controls for blocking them are cumbersome, and don't get me started on the controls for doing it yourself.

Also in the standup there isn't any idle animation or reaction. Pivots seem stiff. You don't see hands feeling out for range, sizing up a jab. When anyone in the roster gets me down they just spaz out, never stick to one spot, we'll roll around transitioning each other until the round ends and not a punch is thrown.

Game kinda sucks. Is it better online?

No way, DJ is obviously getting a rematch immediately because there's never been someone who has deserved it more.

His contract is up. Don't be surprised if something crazy happens in the next few days, like even maybe him retiring. A decade of his life just had a sea change. I dunno if he double dips in a few months.

Stipe will get a fight in 2019 I think, and it will most likely be for the interim belt with Blaydes, this happens after DC wins and retires or Brock wins then USADA runs into the octagon like Brock did to Stipe screaming about how he popped his tests. Then, Dana literally explodes next to Brock, causing him to have to vacate the belt due to shrapnel injury.

Spat his answers like he was talking to a Sgt, basically.

Cody created too many swang and bang opportunities. He also lost all of them. He carried himself with too much emotion, hesitation, and utterly stiff head/body movement except for a few explosive dodges or switches.

TJ smiled, honed in, stalked and killed. Simply got outclasses. No 20 fight bullshit; TJ has his number.

I really like the polish and charm but virtually everything feeds back into the loop of food, stress, and air to breathe. Learning how to manipulate resources to your advantage or your first gas farm / water purification loop is cool, but then what?

I wish it had combat, map events, duplicant quests/goals/relationships or even foreign colonies to make it interesting.
