From what I've seen the ad harassment only comes bundled with the discounted version ($15 cheaper with "special offers"). But yea, your lockscreen will have a giant advertisement every time you turn it on. Also to note, it doesn't have access to the google store (only the amazon store), so you will have to download a few updates elsewhere to get a proper app store (though, it is super easy to do). Aside from that though, it is a good budget device. --- |

Interestingly enough, I just got one in the mail yesterday (my parents grabbed a few during the prime day sale to give out as gifts). Bunch of preloaded junk on it, but easy enough to de-clutter, and getting the google play store is super simple too. Big improvement over the android I used to use (which was 5 or 6 years old). Who is this, and what have they done with the complacent Steam of the last few years!? Seriously though, excited for the idea of flash deals coming back. Gotta be good for steam too, since it encourages more impulse purchases. ArchangelBaruch posted... Also applies on the gifting side. I remember folks gifting like 10 different people at once a game that had just gone in flash mode. Dunno if it will be quite the same though. When we had flash sales, we also had the ability to buy multiple copies of a game and store them in our inventory for later gifting - can't really do that now. So going to have to hope that the people who want the specific games are online when they are in their flash sale. --- |
