I'm not mad at her for using the comparison because I see where she's going with it. I don't think it is quite the same thing. I think Ben Shapiro is kind of pearl clutching here because he knows what she meant and knows that he wasn't being genuine with his debate offer. Also if a R woman also said something was like catcalling I don't think anyone on the left would blink an eye. I could be wrong (and I have before!) but I doubt that would be an issue in the slightest. I also think no one on the right would blink an eye in that situation, and the only reason they are pretending to be upset here is for the reasons you point out - it is on the other side so it must be bad. But yeah, Gunn was a straight up hit job. The dude admitted he was just feigning outrage to get Gunn fired and it worked. If I sent an offer to debate Ben Shapiro, he would be right to ignore it. He wouldn't get anything out of it and he can't be accepted to debate every crazy person that sends a tweet his way. This debate would only help to elevate Shapiro's stature, while at the same time Ocasio-Cortez literally couldn't win any thing of value. I think he's smart enough to know that too, so him posting an offer to debate via Twitter instead of contacting her directly is disingenuous at best.
