Looks good to me. With 512GB flash storage available (expandable to 1TB), DeX, 4000mAh battery and the Bluetooth enabled S Pen, it's a real bruiser. I like that metallic copper color personally.

...but that price. $1,000 to start and $250 more for the hotrod version? That's a tough one to swallow.

Yeah, with Samsung Pass. Can sign into websites with iris/fingerprint scanning using the SI browser.

Also, SI is the only browser you can use if you're on max power saving mode.

On a related note (pun intended), the Tab S4 is about to come out but I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on the S3 when the price drops some more. I don't care about having the latest specs as I'm just trying to replace a 5 year old iPad as a media consumption device.

What I've noticed between iPhone vs Galaxy battery life is that iPhone has great standby time, but it falls off a cliff when you actually start using it. Galaxy will have worse standby time, but holds steady when you're working with it.

Galaxy phones do this trick where recently used apps are stored in RAM as long as there's space available which significantly reduces app switching and relaunch time. The tradeoff is it requires more power in standby because it's background managing all your ram. That's likely where the difference comes from.

Yeah, I'll take that anytime. I can cycle through all my apps and none will reload unless I rebooted or change the screen resolution.

As for TC, avoid Chrome like the plague since it's a RAM and battery vampire.

Because it makes neither financial nor environmental sense.

If it's money you want to save, then buy a Corolla which will get 30+ MPGs on average and starts at $5000 lower. Take that 5 grand and gas up your car for the next 5-7 years depending on price of gas per gallon. You'd have to be driving the Prius for that long to break even.

It makes little environmental sense because of the not-so-environmentally friendly battery pack which helps power the thing. If you cared that much about the environment, then ride a bicycle or even use public transportation.

On a more personal note, a Prius as a car is about as interesting as a refrigerator.

I just laugh at the persistent Samsung Experience UI whining. Far more capable and feature laden than stock Android (whatever that is). Multi-window multitasking, Dual Messenger apps, edge panels, performance modes, max power saving mode, more robust app sorting and Always on Display, etc.

In fact, stock Android has recently incorporated much of what Samsung had on their phones for years. I learned recently that you actually can't remove the weather widget and Google search bar on the home screen of Pixel phones. Is that true?

Yeah, the difference between them is that you can submerge the Galaxy device in ~2 extra feet of water. Seems like a small difference, but its something to consider if you want to maximize waterproofing.

All the while, you still get a headphone jack and expandable memory.

The current crop of iPhones are IP67 and thus aren't as waterproof as Galaxys, which are IP68.

Pretty interesting graph. Apple is (was? I think the stock came back down) a trillion dollar company, but their installed base is essentially flat. Graph shows the usual spike in Q3-Q4 due to the release of new devices, but they aren't attracting any Android defectors. The same people are buying and trading up when new devices are released.

I rarely wear that one. My Gear S3 Frontier is my daily - looks sharp with the gunmetal case and brown leather strap. It's also a lot more practical as I can dress it up or down as I please. Digital watch face and sport strap if I'm working out, fancy analog dial and leather strap to make it look like a Tag on date night.
