tbh, I wonder if the downvotes are more in reaction to the community surrounding the show rather than the show itself. Rick & Morty may have suffered from the same.

Mandolins are fun and they have a cool sound but the last instrument I played was violin in 6th grade. 8 strings is too intimidating for me. Guitars have 6. Ukuleles only have 4 so it doesn't seem like it'd be too hard to get some basics down and try to get proficient with some fingering skills (hehe) and try to move up from there.

The 8 strings are tuned in unison, meaning it's really like playing a 4 stringed instrument. It's comparable to a 12 string guitar. You press down on 2 strings at the same time.

Definitely learn the ukelele first. It's much easier. I can play both adequately...as well as the banjo, guitar and bass...ain't I great? Lol

You should watch the UK version, every scene with the nunchuck is removed.

I've heard of that before, but never really looked into it...how the hell would that even work? So Michelangelo is basically useless for the whole series? Swords, sais, and a bo staffs are fine, but nunchucks...get that shit outta here.

And why Hero Turtles? Was the UK facing a ninja epidemic of some sort? So much confusion in my head right now...

It starts with the US ninja craze in the 80s, we had ninjas everywhere.
In UK, the BBFC is responsible to rate every form of video that is shown/sold in the country, but since home videos were something new in the 80s, it existed no legal requirement for home videos to be rated by the BBFC, which resulted in video stores allowing kids to buy and rent movies like Driller Killer and I Spit On Your Grave (25 minutes long rape scene, still the longest in a movie).
It didnt take long until loud voices complained about kids being allowed to see video nasties, so they had to rush out some new laws that gave the BBFC right to ban and censor whatever they wanted, which resulted in some heavy censorings during the 80s and 90s.
And since the ninja craze existed, it also existed multiple violent ninja movies, so that went into their todo list.
Nunchucks and ninja stars were banned in everything, to prevent stupid kids from emulating what they saw and hurt themselves or others. Guns and swords were left alone because no kid would be smart enough to get their hands on them in the first place while anything sharp can emulate a throwing star and you can quickly make your own homemade nunchuck that will most likely break and could easily hit somebody. I guess knifes could emulate swords, but they thought that their parents still would have some common sense left...
The word ninja in itself was associated with violence, so it had nothing to do with a kids cartoon.
Tha game Ninja Gaiden was delayed one year and had to switch name to Shadow Warriors in Europe because of this.
Thankfully the nunchuck is still in the Nes turtles game.
And yes, it results in strange scenes in the cartoon. Michelangelo throwing nunchucks to disarm thugs?
Huh? Why are the thugs suddenly disarmed?
Michelangelo throwing nunchucks to disable some robot or security system?
Huh? Why is the robot suddenly broken? Why did that security system stop shooting lasers?

Crazy and yet very interesting. Thanks for the info.

Judging from that episode, it looks alright. However, given that there are countless cartoons people *have* heard of, not sure why you're so focused on obscure older titles.

Besides this one and Heckle and Jeckle mostly everything is fairly well known. Obviously factors like when and where you grew up determine what is well known to you. I grew up in South Dakota and there was regional programming that would play older cartoons. (Like this show...Captain 11)

Which is why I was exposed to a wider variety of cartoons.

Overall I'm happy with the placement of everything however...

Robotech, C.O.P.S., Kissyfur, Danger Mouse, Thundarr, Jonny Quest, & The Littles should have been slightly higher.

Simpsons should've made the top 25.

Hogan & Super Mario Bros Super Show made it a little farther than I'd like.

The Legend of Zelda made it waaaaaaaaaaay too far.

If hogan came first, would it have been an upset win?

You know the answer to that one brother.

Man I would be celebrating. I'll be hotdogging and grandstanding all the way to the bank brother.

This is all I have to say to you...
