Why is everyday high school drama on the news?

My wife has a friend who works at a nearby hospital. There has been probably a dozen explosions she can see oil leaking all over the place from caused by shrapnel cutting into large oil tanks. Looks like a river.

Article title is pretty misleading, it wasnt your everyday beauty pageant, it was specifically a pageant for girls with disabilities. And the disorder she has is more than just the hungry part - it also points to mental impairment to some degree, infertility, etc.
