I havent read the whole topic, so I dont know if anyone has posted this yet. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modal_logic The whole article goes way into detail, but essentially it boils down to what has already been posted in the first two pages. Probably implies a strong modality that, yes, the man likely beats his dog.
