I'd count it. Much of 4chan's shit has leaked into reddit, but you could still be right.

At the moment, reddit's worst is worse than GameFAQs' worst tbqh. Some subreddits are full of awful anti-semitic garbage, the advocation of violence towards minorities and people of certain political persuasions, etc. That's with some of the worst subreddits having already been banned, e.g. Physical_Removal (the "helicopter rides" one).

Ones that are still pretty bad: r/holocaust, r/conspiracy, r/milliondollarextreme and yes, The_Donald, off the top of my head.

GameFAQs has obviously hosted some questionable opinions (including anti-semitic ones and the like), but they've been relatively rare in my experience. Trolls? Yep, there are plenty of them, but I wouldn't say they necessarily make a place "toxic". They're more annoying than anything. reddit has them too anyway.

Aside from things external to the site (e.g. the guy burning down the church), there's been shit like the San Andreas board when that came out. reddit's worst has been a billion times worse than that. There was CP posted on CE once or twice, but again, reddit has had the same, to a greater extent.

The marketplace of ideas will be weaker for it. /s

Where I live in Scotland, schools without uniforms are actually pretty unusual. Both public schools I went to required a uniform.

I think they're mostly state schools, i.e. government funded. They have to follow a specific curriculum and undergo inspections though. They can't just do what they want.

Entirely public (Catholic) schools.

That's going by the American definition. Here in the UK, "public school" often refers to private schools like Eton.

Thunder Force IV / Lightening Force: Quest for the Darkstar is a great shmup.

System Shock 2 is perhaps the most notable one.

Diablo 1 and 2 are great. The gameplay is the primary concern, but they wouldn't be the same without the atmosphere.

I barely even care anyway.

4 is pretty much like 5. One notable difference is that the dungeons are more like Mementos from P5 than the character specific ones.

I prefer the P4 approach to be honest. It's nice to be able to return to dungeons. At least 5's dungeons are far better.

Actually, that's a point I forgot to make earlier, and could be the difference between the TC liking and not liking 3 and 4. The dungeons in 3 and 4 are randomized, while 5's dungeons are hand-crafted. The difference is massive.

It's a safe bet I'd say. I've only played the base game of 4 though. Golden no doubt adds a lot, but 5 still has plenty of content.

4 is fairly accessible too. At least, I found it easier to get through than 3.

3's story is darker though, which I prefer. The atmosphere is more oppressive. Gameplay-wise, it's not as streamlined as 4 and 5, and lulls in the story are frequent. S. Links are also more difficult to max (and can even be "reversed" in some cases).

@luigi13579 Be careful with the LoG2 nominations, a lot of them are just remixes of the Faulconer anime soundtrack, and thus ineligible for the contest (I don't know about your specific picks, but I would watch out)

I vaguely remember there was a vulnerability in the software that allowed malicious code to be ran on computers with the software installed. Presumably they fixed that, but it probably did some lasting damage to their reputation.

There's also the simple fact that gamers don't want to install loads of different game clients. People had Steam, then Origin, uPlay, etc. popped up.

They still make/publish some good games at least (e.g. Yakuza and SMT/Persona), but obviously their output was much greater when they made consoles.

That's why the whole "Nintendo should go third-party" thing is laughable to me. Their incentive and ability to make games would almost certainly be diminished just like Sega's was.

I think the Legacy of Goku tracks count as originals. They're based on Bruce Faulconer's DBZ tracks (with some exceptions), but they're their own thing really. If you don't think they should count, let me know.

Computing / computer programming are the only things really. Mostly the practical side (e.g. how to code using certain languages / libraries), but some theory too.

To be honest, I didn't really see any reason for it to be deleted, unless the topic itself is off-limits.

Maybe it was the typical bad-faith nature of the topic, as in "all you libs have been brainwashed into thinking the Nazis were right-wingers". It just seems like it's meant to rile people up rather than start a healthy debate.

There's that one theory using dialogue from Morrowind that heavily foreshadows a Tsaesci invasion "once the Empire is in civil war" and that "once that happens we need to strike back", so I'm betting on a game that involves the invasion of Akavir.

The dialogue in question isn't even in the base game (rather, it's from the LGNPC Pax Redoran mod), so it's a bullshit theory unfortunately.

What builds were more OP for PvE than hammerdin?

Since the Infinity runeword was added, Light Sorcs, Trap Assassins and Javazons are arguably even more OP (for PvM anyway), at least offensively. Slap Infinity on your merc and the Conviction aura lowers enemies' resistances and even removes many (Lightning) immunities.

One of the more impressive sights in the game is seeing a Javazon wrecking Baal and his minions:


Javazons are perhaps a bit more situational than Hammerdins, although Hammerdins do struggle in some areas, particularly those with tight spaces like The Maggot Lair.

I never did a pure corpse explosion focused necro, but I've done just about every other kind. My favorite Necro build...really, my favorite build out of the whole game....was my poison necro.

A CE Necro (CE + Summon, that is) is worth a try. If nothing else, it's a blast to play one (lol). Poison Necros are cool too.

I'm more of a Corpse Explosion guy. I tend to max it, unless I have great gear with loads of +skills. With Amplify Damage, it's powerful as fuck. And the blast radius when maxed...

Amazingly enough, I've only ever found one unique Sacred Armor, and it was Tyrael's. I've never found Templar's, the much more common one. Neither are particularly useful though.

Love the game. It's my most played by far.

Say what you will about cookie-cutter builds, but there are still plenty that can get you through the game and that fulfil their own niches. Experimenting with all the different options is a great deal of fun. The ones that revolve around certain items are especially interesting, e.g. Whirlwind Assassins (my favorite), Auradins, Enchantresses, etc.

(Normal mode) Duriel is a bastard for most builds. I find myself loading up on potions (Mana if I have a powerful attack that can shorten the battle or Health if I need to try and tough it out) and/or portaling in and out like a chicken. Usually both. It takes a while, but I get there in the end.

Another good tip is that it's often better to walk / stand still than run around like a headless chicken. Running reduces your Defense and block rate (to 0% and by 2/3 respectively), so if your character is good in those regards, walk.

I'm with you here. Ten plus years playing the game and I got exactly one Lo rune and one Gul rune ever. THAT'S IT.

Never got an SoJ, almost had an Anni charm but some asshat used a program to pick it up off the ground from the other side of the screen and exited the game. I was so pissed haha.

I didn't find anything above a Vex Rune for years (and even that took me ages to find). A recentish patch (one of the 1.13s I think) upped the High Rune drop rate a good bit, and I've found loads since then. Mostly Ohms and Los, but also 2 Bers, a Sur, a Cham and maybe others. Most in Single Player. So I have a completely legit SP Grief, Infinity and Call to Arms. :)

SoJs... I've found 3 or 4 I think. A couple randomly, and one or two when I specifically farmed Nightmare Andy for them. She's your best bet for finding one.

I also did some Dclone hunting back in the day, which was pretty tedious. There was a website which told you the IP addresses of "hot" servers. I'd then join a bunch of games, checking the server IP with the "netstat -n" command, until I found the right server. Then I'd just wait until the "Dclone walks the earth message" would appear and kill him.

Zod Rune and Death's Fathom are now top of my list of items I've yet to find.

Given how much I've played the game, yep, the drop rates are crazy.
