echoes sequence breaking is probably more permissive than prime. probably over half the rooms in the game have some way of getting out of bounds, which gives you a lot of ability to move past doors / barricades / etc you would not have been able to otherwise and lets you drop back into rooms essentially anywhere

There may be some who you can convince, but like with many held religious beliefs, it's a difficult and often futile task. The better strength of arguing ideas with them is to expose held beliefs to the public and provide alternatives or support to those listening.

Construction boots are really the golden benchmark of how shoes should feel I think. Hands down the most comfortable boots I ever owned were some steel cap boots when I worked on mine sites. There's lots of padding, sturdy ankle support and soft rubber soles along with a few other design quirks like arched soles.

I would suggest you consider increasing your budget here a little and moving into the $200-400 price range for some solid boots. Leather soles are more hardwearing but rubber soles feel softer on the ground. You also have a break-in period, so most sturdy boots will feel like hell for the first few miles until they get used to your feet.

Depending on what your style preference is, timberlands are honestly a really good shout, and are the trendy street credible alternative to dickies imo. More classically you could look at red wing iron rangers. These won't be comfortable to start with but they'll mould to your feet over time and last a decade plus.

But yeah I'm thinking boots are the way to go if that's how you feel.

Some of the Timberlands look pretty damn comfortable. I don't want boots that really draw the eye, just somewhat understated and comfortable.

I'd say a semi-auto rifle is far more effective as a home defense weapon than a pistol. Whether it is more effective than a 12-gauge shotgun, I don't know yet.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again now. I own both a 9mm pistol and an AR-15. I'll grab the AR-15 first every time in a home defense scenario.
