What I always find most amazing about these topics is how obvious it is that the stalkers (because that's what they clearly are at this point) have never read Higurashi and know nothing about it lol. dodonpachi is not a doujin game, duh. it already exist in arcade and consoles since the 90's. and yet they werent that popular compared to touhou. the obvious differences? the waifus. and since they pick the waifus, they get even more popular now.

you can keep denying that the waifus and their hentai are not a factor in popularizing touhou until kingdom come, but that's just running away from the truth.

Did you forget the "relatively"? It takes like a few days in the sonic fandom to eventually learn of sonichu, pretty much every hardcore fan knows it. I don't play Sonic and I heard about it instantly when it was released and it's still brought up regularly as a meme.
And touhou's edge over donpachi is the waifus, yes (though it also has superior music). However, donpachi also towers above all the other countless obscure waifu filled games so it's certainly not because the waifuism is an insta-success. The thing that made Donpachi and touhou stand out over the rest and become popular are the gameplay and the music. That's undeniable. Music is invaluable. The Impossible Game got some fame due to it even though its gimmick is just being simple and hard. If the square was replaced by an attractive girl but the music was awful it wouldn't have gotten nearly as popular.
