I mean, he has the high HP characteristic of Fighters, so he can at least take some hits. I guess. Never bothered with the guy. If you just want a tanky axe user then all you really need is Hector. He's like a Knight, but with axes.

Dorcas also has one of the highest Skill growths of all axe wielders in the game, so he actually has less problems hitting things compared to other axe users. After promotion to Warrior, he actually turns into a pretty solid bow user as well if you decide to train his proficiency with them.

That's actually pretty neat I guess. Never woulda figured, I think the only Fighter I ever bothered with is Boyd (haven't played Radiant Dawn).

You don't really need to abuse a glitch to do that. I mean you are probably doing some boss abuse to get Sain or Kent to a level where you would want to use the Knight Crest on them, but boss abuse isn't really a glitch.

Missed this edit. I was referring to the break forced movement glitch in normal mode.

Don't expect him to double any time soon either with his 20% speed growth lol. The Fighter he joins with in Eliwood Mode (Bartre) isn't much better either. And the one Pirate you get has an expensive promotion item. Basically if you're not Hector, a Paladin, or some other prepromote, then get fucked lol.

Like I said, don't be shy about abusing it in Lyn Mode. She always starts with a fresh one in Eliwood/Hector mode, and she's kind of trash without it, so it's better to use it while you have it to not make Lyn a complete liability.

Oh, this should probably go without saying, but do be sure to actually use the Energy Ring and Angelic Robe before clearing chapter 10. You probably don't care about ranking first playthrough, and Lyn or Florina could really use those extra boosts.

And don't be shy about abusing Mani Katti during Lyn mode, you'll get another one in the actual game even if it breaks.

I'd actually recommend playing through Lyn's tale on Hard Mode so TC can Knight Crest Kent or Sain instead of Wallace. That is, if TC doesn't like abusing glitches.

It's mostly just annoying to me because I'm too used to the later games lol. Still legit my favorite of the SNES games. I wasn't feeling the X Hunter shenanigans in X2 because it gets kind of annoying if they keep spawning out of boss order, and X3 had too much backtracking. Rather, it felt more pronounced imo due to having to fuck around with the ride armor for some of the collectibles. And real talk, I loved how in X1 your stage completion order affected other stages in an actually meaningful way. I don't think I've ever actually seen Flame Mammoth's stage without the lava frozen over, which is just mindblowing to think about, that a specific stage can be experienced in an entirely different way if you beat a specific boss first.

Yeah, two childhood cats. Second one really fucked me up though, my room basically became his hospice home for his final weeks. Took him to the vet when he started limping, told us his leg was paralyzed and that we should start saying goodbye, two days later I wake up to find him completely paralyzed. That was uh, that was a rough morning.

sadly i never owned 4 just rented it

I still can't decide which battle system I actually like more. I think I prefer 4 on principle because each party member has a clearly designated role, even though 5 is the more polished one. I mean, technically each party member in 5 has a particular role they're good at (Dean wants to spam Sonic Vision, Rebecca wants some type of magic, etc.), but it's just not the same to me lol.

I played SA after V and I still prefer SA.

And I played V long after I played SA, and still prefer V, so it goes both ways.

Like I said, though, being slightly worse that either game is a major compliment in itself.

I can respect that, I just didn't want the "it's entirely nostalgia" claim to be left unchallenged. I just think nostalgia goggles is a lazy way to criticize something. >_>

My only major gripe was how difficult it actually is to lose the cops/rival gang members on a motorcycle. Like, every chase was designed around ramming your car into all your problems until they go away.

Also, my first time playing I got a softlock that forced me to start a new game to continue.

Aside from that though, I loved the game's atmosphere, and the combat was punishing at first, yet it felt satisfying to master. Legitimately felt like I was starring in a kung fu flick.
