Not sure how I feel about Yankees fans booing Giancarlo. On one hand, it's typical New York impatience that will be of no help to the players in the short term. On the other hand, it's a good reminder for him that this isn't Miami and we expect serious production.

I don't think it helps or hurts, people have been doing this stuff for years. I don't think anyone has ever turned away the increased money and exposure because they don't want to deal with the press/fanbase. I do think it is ridiculous though. It's not like he needed a reminder that he needs to do his job.

Got through the first of 3 areas for Far Cry 5. Man, the gameplay and mission design are sooo good. I'm super into it!

Also, quick sidebar, I love what they are doing with the DLC. I hate story DLC in video games. After I beat a game, I don't want to go back and try and readjust to that world 3-4 months later and continue the story. I like that the plan is to do goofy stuff with it, with the core gameplay (kind of like they did with blood dragon back in the day). This might be the first game in a long time where I buy single player DLC.

The problem with Charlotte ending the streak is where she would go from there. Once she beats Asuka for the belt, who else is left that's a legitimate challenger to her? It'd have to be someone new (Rousey?) or someone fresh from NXT (Ember Moon, Kairi?) that's going to get that boost from beating the person that ended the streak. Charlotte has been on top for so long now that most of her title feuds would be rehashes of stuff she's already done, and they're not going to give that boost to Becky. Those new people would have to be brought up and fast tracked, or given a separate storyline where they're slowly built up.

It's like Brock. After he ended Takers streak, the only person that beat him was Goldberg, but Brock ended up beating him again pretty fast and taking the streak power back. With Roman's eventual win, it's not as difficult to believe in him losing clean to someone like Braun, since he lost clean to Braun multiple times already.

Are they due for a roster shuffle/draft?

If Asuka wins at mania via triple threat, and charlotte ends the streak the next PPV, or maybe one more after, I don't think it makes Charlotte too unbeatable. I mean hell, she just lost to Natalya a few weeks ago. But eitherway, the feud would last long enough to put someone else in position to go for it.

The more I think about it, the more I like it. Asuka vs. Charlotte is a legitimately big-time match. And this mania doesn't "need" it. Hell, it doesn't even need Cena-Undertaker. It's OK to hold something back for the next show.

Honestly, I think people read way too much in to how dominant she has to look. Not every undefeated streak has to be booked like goldberg. I'd rather this, where she doesn't bury the whole division. It's not like the men where it's easier to have her avoid facing certain people while keeping a streak alive.

I do agree these streaks are tricky, as they kind of book you into a corner. I think Jakyl has said he envisions Carmella cashing in mid-way through the match and losing, with Asuka winning, to keep the heat on the feud. That makes logical sense to me. Charlotte makes the most sense to end this streak, but it would be a waste to have it without giving her the belt too.

I've said it in a bunch of topics but I'll always recommend starting Yakuza from the very first game, but if you do that you have to be okay with just pecking at all the games over a very long period of time. I promise you it'll be a ride unlike anything else you'll ever play, but it's a long haul of games that grow very slowly and steadily.

If you don't want to do that, 0 is definitely the next best starting point. It's also the best game in the series and IMO one of the best games ever made.

So the story is totally connected? Gameplay isn't too dated on the older ones?

it's nothing like Grand Theft Auto. Think of it like a procedural crime drama with endearing characters. Each game is the equivalent of a season, and while there is some continuity between games, each one tells a full, self-contained story. The game itself shares more DNA with beat 'em ups and RPGs than a typical open world game.

They're also full of side content, from missions to karaoke to light management sims. You can play through a Yakuza game for the story and still not touch one quarter of what it has to offer. Or you can just leave it there if you want!

Y6 is probably the worst place to start, but Sega have a digital bundle of Yakuza 6 + Yakuza 0 for $80 ($72 if you have PS+) and Yakuza Kiwami (a remake of 1 in the Yakuza 0 engine) can be found regularly for $20.

So what order would you recommend? Kiwami and then 0? My issue is whenever I try and start a new series that way, I tend to get tired of it before I get to the newest one!

But with Fox News the issue is just compounded with literal fake s***, and an emphasis on fear stories.

Honestly, having had to listen to Fox News while cooking due to Dad having it on full blast, I think I've gotten their propaganda method down.

Step 1. Say something sensationalist about Democrats
Step 2. Show a clip from Hillary or Bernie that isn't nearly as sensationalist as Step 1, but is similar enough that your followers will fill in the gaps themselves
Step 3. Affirm sensationalist statement
Step 4. Repeat with next story

It's all political operatives with agendas yelling at each other for the most part, though there are a few shows in particular on CNN and MSNBC that I think are worthwhile.

God of War hype really confuses me. I hope the game actually does turn out to be good but all the gameplay we've seen since the first reveal has looked super stiff and just plain not fun to me. Maybe I'm just an old grouch.

It kind of feels like everyone else has taken from the formula enough over the years, where it doesn't feel terribly special anymore, and I don't think it is taking a big step forward in any way.

I won't click the link LOL. But yeah, pretty silly. At least, silly in the way things in politics used to be silly and worth a blog post. There's a weird intersection of the right and the left that likes these policies. I think congresspeople are generally supportive of tariffs that help their district/state, and less supportive of others, which is why we need a president to see beyond that.. But yeah, there's enough analysis out there to show tariffs are generally not worthwhile, unless someone is being a truly bad actor.
