I mean it's not the greatest story ever told but that was the theme it beats you over the head with. Of course the main character is never going to give up on people. Plus Sasuke didn't actually kill anyone except bad guys...how is that a comparable analogy? Pain killed Jiraiya and he talked no jutsu him out into reviving everyone. Come on dude.
