Perhaps your answer to public schooling should include more than just the limits of your school district?

It surely sounds that is absolutely right now what you are doing.

I didnt provide a solution for public schooling that catered to the lowest common denominator so I am not sure how your response is supposed to make any sense there.

Corrik posted...
I am providing a rough idea, and you are trying to find a specific detail or so based on your experience to argue against it.

I highly doubt that at the end of the day, if they wanted to do this or not, that Drama class would be the breaking point on it.

Some schools don't even have stages!

I'm not trying to find one specific detail to argue against it. I just provided a handful of classes that don't work as a video conference to show how little you actually thought this through. Others have already mentioned the social aspects and nothing in your outline actually improves the students education. Your plan does nothing except eliminate some costs by eliminating a whole bunch of jobs, and depriving students of a major source of social interaction. But yeah I guess I'm just nitpicking.

I grew up in a decent-sized college town. Elementary/middle school had classes of around 25. For high school, big classes ran around 20-25 (for stuff everyone had to take like English and history). More niche things like creative writing or higher level language/science would be 10-15, sometimes less.

I grew up in a smaller suburb and the class sizes were 30ish for the core classes which is what I was really thinking of when it comes to class size. The more popular electives like spanish ran around 35. Ap classes and the niche classes were probably in the 15-20 range. So for my school district Corriks class size only works for the advanced placement classes and electives most people didnt want to take.

Corrik posted...
Your teachers would be in district. And report to the centralized building to teach. In my scenario.

Cool so now my district is hiring more teachers to meet your 20 student class size but firing everyone else who used to work there so we can pay them more. So even if I agreed an all online approach could work for the core curriculum(I don't), how would it work for anything requiring a hands on approach? In this scenario how does a video conferenced woodshop class work? You promised us there would still be plays. How does the drama class prepare for a play over Skype?

If you are in an extracurricular activity you would meet to practice... seriously?

Do you really think they would learn how to play football over the internet? lmfao

Drama class can be taught over the internet, and in many cases, it may be beneficial as you could have direct feed back and film to see what you are doing and how to. If you are practicing for a play, that would just be an extracurricular activity in which you would meet for. Hence having the central localized building.

And, yes, if you have 30-40 students in a class that number is considered more than is optimal for a regular classroom. That number is very detrimental to learning for students at that age.

I never mentioned football. The school plays are not considered extracurricular as they are part of the drama class. I asked how the drama class is going to prepare a play over skype since you have eliminated actual classrooms. How do they learn their proper positions on the stage when they are not in the same room as each other? When do the kids in woodshop get to actually use a lathe?

Uh, no, I have a very good memory of this. A lot of people, including democrats, were telling the guy to shut the fuck up in 2000 even before he conceded. "No man is ever told to shut up and go away" is such idiocy it hurts to read.

And climate change deniers, really? The data is so falsified at this point that the only idiots are the ones who believe it all.

The thing that bothers me is that, despite the constant Republican narrative that straight white Christian men are constantly under attack, the fact is that the demographic has the easiest path in life compared to others, and people like Corrik know that. He knows that asking a question on a video game message board is likely to find a pool of straight, white, middle class, Christian men who, lets be fucking honest, would never ACTUALLY be negatively impacted by MOST policies offered up by EITHER major party. But because hes self-centered, he refuses to accept that caring about people who DONT fit that privileged demographic counts when it comes to Trumps negative impact. He just throws in the lie about ObamaCare (note how he immediately went on a tangent about how hes a victim of bias when he got called out on that little appeal to emotion) to try and justify his position, even though if he really gave a shit about premiums, hed know that theyre going up under Trump as well.

What are you fucking talking about. Yeah I am lying about my medical changing. Are you dumb?

It was 2013 or 2014. They came in January and said that they were changing our provider due to rising health costs. They were raising our medical from $100 out of pocket a month to $300. They were changing from I forget what provider to whatever. And it was going from no deductible and copays to a $5000 deductible for visits. Separate $5000 for hospital before it covered 80/20. They tried to usher us all into a hsa ans offered us $150 a month take home to choose the HSA offer and $500 towards the HSA a year.

I took the HSA because I figured I would never meet the deductible to even see the coverage. I got an absess in my throat that year. I had to replace out of a mafia game due to the pain.

I didn't want to go to the hospital because I thought I had tonsillitis and it would go away on its own. After a week of being unable to sleep swallow or eat I finally went to med express where they said I had to go to the er.

I had to have a ent come and drill out the absess in the nasty operation I have ever seen. I instantly felt better after he was done.

I waited and waited and the bills rolled in. Approximately $3200 total. That I had to pay out of pocket cuz I had an HSA and no medical.

Like, you are telling me my life is a lie. GTFO.

Sounds like your employer took you for a ride.

Corrik points out the very big difference between Conservatives and Liberals.

Conservatives: HOW DOES THIS EFFECT ME?!
Liberals: How does this effect everyone?

Trump is actively working to roll back protections for LGBT+ folks, including my sister and her wife.
Trump is working to have GUNS put in Schools, where they absolutely shouldn't be. And of course he's cowering to the NRA after calling out Republican Politicians for doing the same thing
Trump and his EPA are destroying the environment. I kind of like breathing clean air.
He put a tariff on Solar Energy to protect stupid coal
Banned Transgender people from the military
Filled his cabinet with the worst people. Including a woman so unqualified to be secretary of education you could literally pick up a phone book, flip to a random page, and point to a random name, and you'd have a good chance at having a better qualified secretary of education. A secretary of education who's doing her best to make it harder for college kids (including my own kids) to afford a college education, and put them further in debt.
Pardoned Sheriff Joe, which condoned racial profiling. Which certainly effects my brother-in-law, who is black. And one of my nieces and nephews who are bi-racial.
Did his best to destroy the Affordable Care Act, making it harder for people who need health insurance to get it

All of this is propaganda.

How hard is it to point a single thing that Trump has done to effect your life?

Have you lost your insurance due to Trump changing a proposal?
Have you lost income due to something he directly caused?
Has your home been destroyed by something Trump let happen?

Like, name a single thing. Just 1.

Obama made my life worse. My premiums went up and my coverage was basically halved on my insurance because of Obamacare having my initial medical insurance pulled from me.

Okay. This is an example of how Obama negatively affected me.

I do not care one shit for well this possibly could one day affect me shit.

Is your air breathable? I highly doubt Trump made your air unbreathable last year.

If you are LGBT, has Trump passed literally anything at all against LGBT? No? Okay. Not valid.

Trump has proposed letting some teachers be armed. How did this negatively affect you? Has a teacher who is armed due to Trump's proposal which hasn't passed shot or threatened to shoot someone in your kids school? If not, toss it.

Literally just tell me one damn thing he has done to make your life itself worse last year. Just 1 thing. Anything!

You make a huge list of theoreticals and propaganda but name nothing of substance.

Did Trump tell a neo Nazis it was okay to harm your family and they did it with Trump's approval? If so, you can list it. Otherwise, not valid.

What has Trump done to negatively impact your family?

Solar tariffs to protect solar panel manufacturers in the United States? If you are a solar panel installer who sees less business due to supposedly less solar panel demand then that is valid. Otherwise, toss it.

Seriously, for how bad he is name something of substance that directly affects you.

I don't just care about myself so I won't write off all these examples people have given you as propaganda. But since you only seem to care about what directly affects you I would point out that those insurance premiums you are so mad at Obama for have gone up even more under Trump.

Imagine the possible stories if teachers suddenly carry weapons.

"WHY DIDN'T THE TEACHER STOP THE SHOOTER?" asks NRA Vice President Wayne La Pierre. "THEY WERE COWARDS!"

We're already hearing this one regarding the school resource officer. Don't think we won't be hearing the same story when a teacher with a gun fails to stop it. Followed of course by everyone calling for the firing of all the armed teachers who didn't stop it.

"Teacher goes nuts, kills students, then self."

Guess it's time to ban something finally! Schools, that is.

"Student grabs gun from teacher, kills 3."

At least it wasn't 17 this time!

"Teacher kills fellow teacher mistaking them for the shooter."

Hey! Mistakes happen.

"SWAT team kills teacher, mistaking them for the shooter."

Swat team feared for their lives.

Don't forget the inevitable "He reached for his waistband" after a teacher kills an unarmed student and then claims he was afraid for his life.
