I wouldn't call it awful. It is, however, the most bland and sterile entry I've played in a series that I usually look to for some amount of creativity and soul.

Everything about Twilight Princess is just so boring. The gigantic open world with jack shit in it and no sidequests to fill the void as Wind Waker handled it, the incredibly cool looking items which you mostly use for a tiny amount within the dungeon you got them and then maybe once or twice afterwords, those terrible bug hunting segments that take up the first half of the game or so, the storyline which comes off like someone wrote an Ocarina of Time fanfic...

It's the only zelda mainline game I've never beaten more than once just because it absolutely cannot hold my attention, and the glacially slow start helps zero percent. I will admit though that I never played Skyward Sword so maybe it's somehow worse?

I dunno, I played SotFS after BB and found that beginning even more brutal. I found the game much harder in general, although the boss fights were actually easier for the most part.

I played DS1 and 2 prior to bloodborne and I'd say the initial run through the city is tougher than any other first area and Gascigone is probably the hardest first boss in the game. Compared to Asylum/Taurus or the Last Giant or really whatever else, Gascigone will fuck you to death if you do not immediately realize how he works. The others at least give you some room to bumble

Kingdom Hearts 2 was actually the very point in time where I outgrew enjoying the edgy anime aesthetic I think. I just remember seeing all these sad bishounen guys in raincoats and thinking "Why do I care about any of these people or their tragic bacstories? I want to get back to the disney shit like in the first game"

Don't forget that if you hit the jump button right before you hit the ground you'll roll and mitigate (sometimes outright stop) fall damage. Only works when falling from a reasonable height though.

Or if you're playing on PC you can always mod out the fall damage.

Really depends on the game. In an effort to make skyrim enjoyable I added a camping and weather survival mode that I think is pretty cool. But in other stuff like, I dunno.. Subnautica, I'll turn off the hunger bar because that game is plenty fun without that extra shit

There's absolutely no issue with skirting around the first amendment to police content. It's essentially already done, albeit to a less extreme way, in how the ESRB and retail stores make AO-rated games essentially not feasible due to stores refusing to carry them. Literally all it would take is increased regulation on M-rated game sales and the wrong group of moral watchdogs being in charge of regulating said restriction. From there, you get the same chilling effects on people creating different types of content. It's happened a multitude of times in a multitude of different countries, and I see nothing preventing it from beginning to happen again.

I have no idea how you've gotten the impression that I'm somehow "pretending" to care about the way the government interferes with art, but at the same time I guess I honestly don't care that much because I know my own opinions. This could open doors I'd rather stay closed, and I'd rather be too doubting in the government to not delve into this and make things worse than I would be too complacent in the face of that.

I think that the two things are completely unrelated and comparing them is disingenuous.

There's no paranoia involved in this, especially when you can look at countries like Australia and Germany and the UK a few decades ago and see the endgame of "we need to get involved to protect our society from violent entertainment." It always starts as small regulation and gradually is built upon.

Naturally it's not a guaranteed conclusion, but I'd rather not give it a chance to start heading that way. Especially since, again, there are much more pressing and intrinsic issues involved in what this is trying to address

The ESRB is pretty excellent at regulating and rating content. They've been around long enough that it's hard for them not to, and thus far the way that they interact with stores who base their sales policies around them has been more than effective.

Yes, kids buy adult rated games sometimes due to their parents. But kids also sneak into R rated movies and buy explicit albums, and nobody is going after full on hardcore government regulation for those industries. Honestly, that's a good thing, because blaming video games, or any of the above, for America's violence problem is absolutely absurd.

Violent video games have been proven to bring out increased aggression, but I have yet to see an incident where they were some sort of sole, or even primary motivator for the incidents that this is attempting to regulate. This is a dog and pony show (as are most "strong stances" of our current administration) that's being put on because it's easier to try to foist regulations on something than it is to address the real roots behind all of this. Mental health issues with poor support systems in place to recognize warning signs, absurd availability of firearms, total inability to address bullying in schools properly, prejudice/hatred being given open reign to fester and worsen... So many things that would be more productive to look into and try to improve are set to the side in the name of going for an easy in and making a few old fart senators and lobbyists happy.
