It is pretty amazing how much blatant sexism the mods allow. I see some comments made about female users that are just flat out offensive, report them and it's like nobody on the mod staff seems to care.

Even the commercial for it was weird. It was a strangely dark game for the Zelda series, and I always found it a bit off-putting. Can easily tell why it's a cult game though.

You played one Metal Slug you've played them all.

First two were the best IMO. X and 3 were fun but not exactly classics like 1 and 2. 4, 5, and 6 weren't even the same thing anymore.

I always thought that. Metal Slug 2 is the one I grew up with in the arcades, I always liked it's tone better. Metal Slug X felt like a parody and I just never liked it as much.

Yeah this site is very oddly run. They seem to take offense to people wanting to actually discuss things, but they have no problem with disruptive trolling.

Really. Well I can see why. Games like Radiant Silvergun and Ikaruga are hailed by fans are the best in the shoot-em-up genre and I couldn't disagree more. There has always been no shortage of games in that genre that I enjoyed more.

It's just terrible now. As opposed to being able to view everything easily you now MUST choose something out of the alphabet out of some crappy drop down menu, and you can no longer easily browse sub-genres, everything is restricted to the shitty drop-down menu.

The lists were one of the main reasons I still went to this site, now it is more irrelevant than ever!

A 9/10 is a pretty fair score for Celeste, assuming that's what this topic is about. Also, AAA games nearly always have inflated scores. I'm not going to say that indie games can't do the same, it seems like many of the "games as art" or heavily story focused walking sims get better scores than they deserve, but rarely is it the case when an indie pure platformer comes along and gets 9s and 10s across the board.

I think that only fans of indie platformers could agree with that. It is a genre that gets highly overrated by it's fans.

I always felt the opposite. AAA games get rated high every time no matter what, so much that it feels completely inflated. I literally just don't enjoy them usually. I also don't like that many indie games, but they are often more fun than the interactive movies.

I totally agree with you in a sense, but that is usually just reviewers pandering to their audience. Souls games are good example of this.

But Mass Effect Andromeda was barely functional when it received its metacritic reviews.

Okay, and? It isn't awful, it's a functional game and it has it's positive qualities. 7/10 seems fair, but if it was an indie game it would have got a 9/10.

Too many people think games should be rated by ambition instead of quality. So I disagree.

It's really tough for indie games to get a crazy high metacritic rating because of this.

I think a game should be rated on how you can enjoy it, not just the pretentious crap that hipsters look for.

Indie games seem to be rated by lower standards. I see far too many whatever indie games getting 9's and 10's while far better AAA games get rated 7's and 8's. It's like if a indie game gets a 10/10 that only goes so far, while if a AAA game gets a 10/10 it must truly be amazing.

I mean nothing personal, I like a lot of indie games myself, but then again I am not an indie gamer. Indie gamers are the type of people who always praise every type of retro style indie game to the highest praise and aggressively push them regardless of how repetitive the genre has gotten.

So like, I'm really interested to know what the point of modding someone without deleting their post is. If I mark something obviously infringing, they get a notification, which obviously doesn't do anything because I only mark intentional flaming and insults. A notification isn't going to make them say, "oh no I didn't mean to do that, I'm going to turn over a new leaf now." Like come on.

To be fair nobody does that unless they can personally understand how they did something wrong, and so long as you have authority figures lashing out inappropriately you will never get those results.
