"Other POC get second tier priority", it's crazy how much a lack of self-awareness some people have. She might have well-meaning intentions at the core, but it's such a backward way of going about it. I understand not wanting to make anyone feel marginalized, but then she goes out of her way to not call out white males specifically because she doesn't feel their voices are as important to be heard. It's basically "Instead of making everyone feel welcome and on an equal field, how about I judge you based on your class instead". If the subject in question is specifically something that certain types of students in the class are more affected by and might provide a more enlightening perspective than others could, then calling on them over others is one thing, but students are supposed to ask questions and learn. Your damn job is to listen to them and educate, not show biases. In a school setting no matter your race, gender, sexuality, etc there should be no favoritism or biases, period. Practices like this will only cause students to feel isolated, it's not a healthy setting. That's not being progressive, that's using your position of power to suppress voices. It takes a complete lack of self-awareness for the irony to be lost on you. I hope for the students' sake that doesn't translate to grading as well. --- |

| TheHuntingParty 10/22/17 1:58:49 AM #1 | In today's society, it's socially unacceptable to degrade a person for their ethnicity, disability, handicaps, ugliness, etc - and you know why? Because it's something they had no control over. However, with short males it's still acceptable and even encouraged to ridicule, laugh at, mock, and literally and figuratively look down upon them. Short women refuse to date short men, taller men treat them like little kids, and they're less likely to be hired over taller males. People look at dwarfism as a genetic defect, people look at manlets as a flaw of character. I'm a 5'8 manlet, the average American College girl my age would never date me solely for that reason. I might as well be a ghost, even 12-year-old girls nowadays are taller. Every time I go outside I feel humiliated, I notice their disappointed glances the moment they notice my height. My face is not hideous, I am not unfit, it's all because of my height. I am a permanent little boy in their eyes all because of something I couldn't control. I was inferior the moment I was conceived. I can't even workout without being criticized for "compensating". If you want any shred of hope of making it as a short male you need to be in a position of power/influence aka talented, rich, and famous like Kendrick Lamar, Tom Cruise, Thom Yorke, etc. What's funny is that 4'11 women will date the 6'0+ jock and have a manlet son, the very thing she despised. Then she'll tell him not to worry, that there's someone out there for him. Short people should be banned from having kids so the endless cycle of torment can be brought to an end. Fortunately people seem to be getting taller on average, so hopefully, my kind will be bred out through natural selection. Sucks for me though, I'm gonna die alone. --- |

There was no such thing as an open healthy discussion on there, it was an extremely close-minded hivemind of a community that would shut down any dissenting opinions. I'm not even talking about shitposters that probably deserved to be banned, I'm talking in general where you would have to walk on eggshells to post there and avoid any thread remotely controversial because the likelihood of a mod banning you for any even slightly deviating opinions from them was cause for a permanent ban. Good riddance, but I'm afraid to see where their userbase will spread to and infest next. --- |
