Being from Texas, I cant even imagine what 0F feels like, let alone -20.

I think I would probably just die if it got that cold

After a certain point it gets tough to tell negative temperatures apart tbh, at least to me. Just feels cold to the point where it's physically painful.

This is right, once you get around -15 or -20 air temp anything colder and it more or less still feels the same. That being said the damage being done to your skin is still getting worse as temperature falls.

I'm assuming you live in a lake effect snow area in upstate NY?

I live on the very most outer edge of the Lake Superior snowbelt in Wisconsin/UP michigan but don't really get much winds need to be whipping off lake damned strong to get it where I am. It has snowed around 25 inches this year but theres only 8 or so on the ground because it snowed in October and November and then had that freaky warm streak where it melted around Thanksgiving.

This is only the beginning of the snowy season, but yeah, I live in the southern tier near pa, but not far from Syracuse. The lake effect snow isn't as horrible as some places, just happens more often here. Was a mess in 16

Luckily I managed to enjoy a similar odd warm streak through almost all of November, but when the snow here starts, it's usually gonna stay until at least March.

LOL, that's funny, when I see your user name I always think of Ithica, as in Ithica NY.

lol I think the same thing as well

Honestly though I enjoy winter, though I usually prefer it to be more like 10 to 30 degrees instead of the -10 to -30 lol

That's not that much really.

If this was 10 years ago I'd agree it just seems that it's been warmer than normal for some years now. Used to be that the first snow (first snow meaning first day of consistent snowcover until spring melt) would be in mid-late November and now its seeming to start 1st week December more often than not, and instead of the snow being melted (except in the forests under shade) in last week March/first week April its happening in early/mid March.

This can variate wildly obviously depending on your specific location, like 50 or so miles north of me where they get heavy lake effect off Lake Superior has a longer snow season.

What's the current REAL temperature (NOT WIND CHILL) in your town and where are you located?

I'm in little town called Elcho (45.4280 N, 89.1774 W), in north central Wisconsin in a an ecoregion known as the "Northern Highlands" which are the southernmost extent of the Canadian Shield in a broader ecoregion called the "Northwoods" (which extends from northeastern Minnesota through northern Wisconsin and northern Michigan and the UP.

Not much to do tonight... nope lol

The summers are usually quite pleasant here, highs average in the mid-upper 70s and lows in the mid/upper 50s. I can't even imagine what it was like to live here in the winter back in the day before all our modern technology, its remarkable really that people could survive.

Weather senses are spot on CE. I live in Northern Wisconsin near Rhinelander which I would imagine would be similar to higher elevations of Upstate NY

This is what I'm looking at, in term of the forecast.
It's saying 3F currently.
https://www.wunderground.com/forecast/us/ny/saratoga-springs/12866?cm_ven=localwx_10day

But in Saranac Lake NY.....
-11 in Saranac Lake. Which tend to be an odd Coldest Spot in The Adirondacks.

I am in one of my states colder spots due to latitude and elevation, though the coldest spot usually seems to be Tomahawk which is 25 miles west of where I am and same elevation so I suspect that it might be a result of where weather recording equipment is located (like if its in a valley cold air can pool down there and such). The lows during winter nights are consistently 5 degrees colder than my town.

Indeed, tis a little silly sometimes, I actually like winter and snow and such but I prefer it when its more normal like 20 degree highs and 0 degree lows, not the negative 20 stuff

The past few days I've had temporary paralysis in my right hand that happens when I use a mouse or otherwise have my hand laying on some kind of surface. There is no pain at all I just can't move my fingers (and thumb especially) for several seconds after using a mouse sometimes for even as little as 5 or 10 seconds.
