The domain renewal was free since I had a hosting account with them. If you are interested in using them let me know so I can give a referral link to get credit. Also, I tried 1 and 1 hosting once for another site and was disappointed with it. It ran slow even with the optimizations I made. Downtime was also an issue I occasionally had with 1 and 1, but have not had with Siteground. I hear 1 and 1 sucks and it doesn't allow you to manage domain records.
