Then again I think smart TVs are a bit of a meme since there's so many other ways to inject functionality into a TV.

I actually feel bad my father got me a FireTV Stick for Christmas because I don't think he realizes how much other stuff can do what that does. The only advantage it has is Alexa, which we already have in our house by way of the Amazon Echo and two Dots.

Tried to buy one over Black Friday but everyone talked me out of it once I did (it was a super-entry level set that doesnt do true HDR; after seeing a slightly higher model in the store and it looked awful next to everything else I was inclined to agree) so I returned it and started saving for a legit set.

The game is all about the hype moments and replicating DBZ-style fights but once that wears off I feel like the actual fighting component is too shallow to really be anything more than an attraction game (something that grabs attention but can't hold it).

Yep, met quite a few interesting people, including my current GF of many years. Works well when you put in the effort.

I'm not really sure what "effort" entails, honestly.

Lording over someone who isn't responding to you isn't really "effort", it's just desperate.

That's a pretty substantial reason, though. All money made through used is 100% theirs. There is no publisher involvement with used game sales.

And if that continually shrinks as time goes on (which is likely is thanks to digital adoption increasing every year along with Games as a Service increasing in popularity) they don't have anything left to fall back on.

It's a single revenue stream, sure, but it's a strong one. Strong enough for them to partner with companies like Thinkgeek.
