I liked it when I played it back in 2011, back before there were villages and NPCs and increasingly implemented role playing mechanics. I only played on Creative, however, so I guess I didn't get the "full experience."

The soundtrack, the world, exploring things and building, all alone to yourself, just you and the animals...I dunno, man. It struck a chord in me I still feel to this day.

It's why I like how Japan does it. It's not necessarily rude to give a tip, but it makes an awkward situation because customer service is believed to be exceptional and leaving a tip is seen as assessing your server's performance.

One thing I'll say is that I'm kind of on the fence with the mini-game stuff. There's way way way more of it than there is in, say, X. It's like every area, every town has some sort of interactive do-hickey to do or mess with. Some of it is pretty neat, like the motorcycle chase, and some of it is just tedious and annoying.

You can also just beat the Zolom. If you have Barrett's one Limit Break unlocked that drains MP. If it is ready to go, use it right away in the battle and it can't use it's attack that will wipe out your party.

there's only 1 reason to fight the Zolom, which is to learn the Beta enemy skill. beating the Zolom itself only gives you lousy AP, exp, and gil that didn't worth the effort.

btw, you did get the enemy skill materia from Midgar, yes? there's only 4 of those materias, and it cannot be reproduced.

I might go back later and learn it. And yes, I grabbed the one from the pod after the boss fight.

It supports both, but it's only partial support for controller. Can't use the D-pad, which is a major flaw, but I've gotten used to the analog for the most part. You also need to start the game with the X key.

Just got through the flashback sequence in Nibelheim. Is there a reason why Sephiroth had his mouth open the entire time? Also, why did Tifa collapse at the natural materia o_O

That aside, the introduction to Sephiroth was done really well. The only other Final Fantasy I've really sunk my teeth in and know well is X, and in that game the, I guess, equivalent to Sephiroth is a dude you pummel multiple times throughout the game and any power he shows is via cutscene so naturally he doesn't come off as terribly frightening. On the other hand, getting to see Sephiroth in actual battle does a good job highlighting just how much better, stronger he is than you. That giant bird monster thing he eradicated, dealing out like 3.5K damage? Phew, that dude's tough.

Did you get that really strong staff for Aeris in Midgar? There was also that sword for Cloud that you can't buy until Juno, IIRC.

Nooo, I must have missed it. The only staff I currently have for her is the one you can buy from a weapon's shop. I DID get the Hardedge, tho.
